Just a thought that might help…
When it’s impractical to wear my usual cloth diapers, I (and a few others here) use cloth inserts (boosters) in a premium disposable. Besides wicking moisture to utilize more of the diaper, the microfiber towels (Sams and Costco) also provide a degree of comfort in hot humid weather. I use 1 or 2 towels folded into 1/3’s but they could be folded and placed for maximum comfort.
Interestingly, once folded and placed in the diaper, and being careful when taping it on (snuggly), the towel “boosters” don’t seem to move at all. Maybe worth a try?

To add to what Ellyn just said about using a booster "cloth" I use Walmart Mainstays Flour Sack Towels. They are not actually towels in the usual sense but rather just 28" x 28" plain thin 100% cotton cloths and they are very affordable, just $8 for 10. I fold them in half two times and then in thirds to make a 12 layer pad about 14" long and 3 1/2" wide. I used these in my nighttime diaper but there's no reason you couldn't use them during the day. When wet you can just rinse them out in the sink and hang to dry, then they can be put in the washing machine at a later time.

I'm not sure why I haven't tried this. This seems like an excellent solution. Great tip.

The microfiber thing sounds pretty comfortable. It's nice and soft. It would probably absorb quickly too.

Another thought I had: I bought some Salk cotton incontinence underwear as a layer between diaper and plastic pants to take care of any possible leak. They do not have a leak barrier so they allow fluid to pass through. Maybe if I put those on first, then thinner cloth backed diaper, then more cotton underwear and pul pants, that might be enough protection, and be a few degrees cooler. The cotton on my skin first I think would make things less swampy feeling. Is that a silly idea?

I would think that when the cotton panty gets wet it will really feel like your wearing a wet towel. I may be wrong because I've never tried it but hey, give it a try and let us know the results. That said when using my cotton pad trick it's really only touching a relatively small area of my skin and I can say it doesn't "feel wet" even when it is, so with that in mind your idea may work too.

Yes it may. My thought was maybe it wouldn't be too much different than other cloth. The Salk Sani underware are supposed to have a wicking layer. We'll see I guess. I promote my other use with them as a safety layer between disposable and Gary Wear pants. Good for sitting leaks.

I often wear a cotton granny panty over my diaper, as you say it can catch very small leaks and with a Gary PUL pant over it it's pretty much leakproof. The panty also helps to keep my diaper snug, especially the cloth-backed types.

YES! This was a big improvement for me. I don't really worry about leaks anymore. Most of the time I don't need it, but I the one day I did it worked like it was designed. That was a huge confidence booster. It's allowed me to relax a bit more.

You may like those Salk Sani underwear. They're just regular men's underwear with an absorbent pad that goes high up front to back. The light ones are wider in the crotch area so they can easily fit over your disposable. I'm sure there is a women's version too in case anyone reading this finds it interesting. Best thing I think is that that's these no moisture barrier so you could use it as part of a cloth diaper or something.

May I ask why your wife is not accepting of you wearing full fleged diapers/briefs? My girlfriend (and hopefully future wife, pending the outcome of her annulment) doesn't care that I wear diapers. I suppose its different with everyone, but my theory is that if she loves you for you, and really wants to support you through this condition, she should leave it up to you to decide what you will wear. It....is...all...just.....underwear! No matter if it has tabs or not. No matter how it goes on, no matter how it looks, ITS JUST UNDERWEAR! Babies wear absorbent underwear. I mean, if a baby doesn't wear "lesser options due to being a toddler and able to control it but not know what's appropriate or not, then it makes little sense to base one's protection on social stigma. It would be highly impractical for a toddler to wear pullups because they don't yet have the mental maturity to make it to the toilet on time. Thus, you could say they are functionally incontinent. So why then would some of our wives/SO put limits on what we can and can't wear? What right do they have? It's not their body. If they have a problem with you being incontinent, that's their problem. When they married you they vowed to accept you as you are.
