I should have probably asked this the day I realized this, but I thought nothing of it. I order a case of Abena XL4 briefs for an upcoming trip. I normally use XL2 for my day to day activities, but for this trip I wanted something that would give more protection. Well when I was taking them out of the bag and organizing them in my duffel bag, my hands started having a film from the briefs. At the time, I didn't think anything about it. For some reason this morning I got in my head, is this a sign of the outside barrier breaking down? I hope not as the trip is only a few days away and I have already have them packed and ready to go.

As anyone else experience this for abena?

Batman, what do you mean by your hands "having a film from the briefs?" Do you mean pieces of plastic backing? If so, sometimes in the manufacturing process pieces of plastic backing are not completely cut away from the diaper's plastic backing.

I suspect that it's only a very fine powder or maybe a coating that is on the outer plastic that is there to help during the manufacturing process. It's possible that this batch had some excess coating or that it wasn't fully removed/cleaned off during the diaper making process. Hopefully it's not something that is irritating but if so I would call customer service and let them know about this issue.

Makes sense. keeping my fingers crossed as I don't want them to fail on this long trip of at the wedding I'm attending. At least in a plane there is a bathroom close by, traveling by car you are at the mercy of the next exit and hope their bathrooms are decent.

This may be a bit obvious, but did you give the L4's a test drive before depending on them for a trip? Hopefully it is not a defective batch and the powdery substance won't bother the tapes. Hope you enjoy the trip and don't have any issues with the L4s.

the trip went well. I was able to limit the times I had to change thanks to the more absorbent material, even through I had to get used to wearing something with more padding. I was stressing about traveling with my son and his friend from OK to GA, but it ended up being no big deal. On a funny note, We were traveling back and of course I had to change and what my wife said when I grabbed my bag was just too funny in front of my son's friend. "He's just getting his reading material to go to the bathroom." I just shook my head and laughed and went on about my business as if it was no big deal. I'm sure he wonder why I had to go to the bathroom a couple of times with my reading material.

I have started getting to a point where I just don't care about it anymore. I will keep it private as much as I can, but for simplicity sake it might just be easier to tell people the circumstances behind having "reading material for the bathroom". After my last post about confronting a younger person about his comments, it wasn't long before I was talking to someone else about leaving the military and documenting items in their medical record. Well he just blurted out about having bladder issues. I could see the frustration in his face and just shut the door and we had a short conversation. Shortly afterwards, he approached me and said I will never know how much I helped him and his wife deal with his situation. I just asked to keep it private, but I have been wondering the more people like me make it known this happens how many more will come out of hiding and say "yep I have the same issue."
