Well It looks like I get to try out the in-house VA hospital diapers soon.

I tripped in my backyard, fell on my face and my jaw and it is now broken. :(
I did see one xray that they took, and I have at least one area in my jaw that's in 2 pieces.

I am NOT looking forward to having jaw surgery.

Im on hydrocodone for the pain.

Add my wishes to a speedy recovery and maybe, just maybe the VA has a new supplier.

Here's to a speedy recovery. And a lot of very soft/liquid food. Hang in there.

Schoppy,

Sorry to hear about your injuries. The VA does have some very good surgeons depending on where you are located and what the repair is.

When you check in you can take your own supply of quality diapers. The in-house diapers are no good unless you trickle all day. If you do any more than dibble you will endup laying in a soaked bed. I experienced that last Spring when I had my bicep reattached.

When I had a family member bring my own supplies in the staff was shocked at how good the diapers I had were at preventing leaks. Leaks are something the nurses expect and deal with all the time so they are pleasantly surprised when they don't have to change the bed chuck every time the patient needs to be changed. The nurses let me decide when to get changed. If a patient is not able to make those choices they would be changed every 2 hours. One of the nurses that I had was extremely impressed that I was able to sleep 7 hours and didn't leak. The diaper I had was soaked, but the bedding was dry.

Best wishes,

Doug
