Hi folks, and a Happy New Year to all with best wishes that 2012 will be a good year for all of us.

We've had a thread that Abena X-Plus, a favorite of many here, is going to cloth-like backing and that news is not good for many of us who dislike cloth-like backing on disposable diapers. There was much discussion on the sister site, Brew's Adult Incon at Yahoo Health Groups. Steve of Wellness Briefs joined Brew's Group and made a generous offer to let folks try the Wellness Briefs for themselves, as it is the "new kid on the block" and many times folks are reluctant to try something new.

Neither Brew's site, nor Schoppy's site are into commercialism and we don't normally allow solicitation.....none of us wish to be bombarded with commercials or offers when we come to seek advice and help for incontinence.

But this is a one time thing and in light of the pending loss of plastic backed Abena-Xs it seems the introduction of a lesser known diaper that is "as good as Abena" is worth a look and posting the opportunity on our Forum.

Steve has applied to Schoppy for membership and will join us once approved but with the limited time offer, he has authorized me to extend the offer to this Group on his behalf, as it expires Jan 10th. Here is his offer:
**********************************
Hi Everyone!!!

With the talk of Abena going all cloth and Molicare's pricing going
through the roof after New Years due to the fact that Medline is no longer
distributing them (and there are rumors that they may not even be available
after June) we would like to offer Schoppy's group an incredible discount on the
Wellness Brief.

This would leave the Wellness Brief as the ONLY premium adult diaper that can
rival Abena, Molicare, Dry 24/7 and many consider Wellness more absorbent. We have
independent lab results out of Germany that can show its performance. I welcome
members of this group to try it and / or feel free to ask me any questions about it.

It was also the first adult diaper featured in the Discovery channel due to
the fact that it was inspired by NASA technology
<http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/nasa-inventions/nasa-change-diapers\
2.htm/printable>

Enter Discount Code "incon" and get the Wellness Brief for ONLY $59.90/ case of
60!! That's only .99 Cents a diaper!!

Act fast; Offer ends 1/10/2012 copy=paste this URL
<http://www.wellnessbriefs.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp>

Here is a price comparison of the Wellness, Abena, Molicare, DRY24/7 (in Large Size)

Wellness (before the discount) - $79.97/ case of 60. Cost per diaper - $1.33.
Cost per month (based on 3 per day) - $119.70

Abena X PLUS Plastic $59.95/ case of 36. Cost per diaper - $1.66. Cost per
month (based on 3 per day) - $149.40

Molicare Super Plus (Before 01/12 Price Increase) - $85/ Case of 56. Cost per
diaper - $1.52. Cost per month (based on 3 per day) - $136.80

DRY 24/7 - $118.95/ case of 72. Cost per diaper - $1.65. Cost per month
(based on 3 per day) - $148.50

Wellness (after discount) - $59.90/ case of 60. Cost per diaper - $.99 cents.
Cost per month (based on 3 per day) - $89.10!!!!!

DRY 24/7 has limited availability through retailers and as to my
knowledge is only available through XPMedical (or 24/7's website) and not
as widely available as the Wellness. The Wellness Brief is available at the Wellness site and
adultdiapers.org, parentgiving.com and many more popular vendors.

This JoeK again; while many diaper sites will offer sample packs, many times you need to pay for the diapers and one or two diapers is hardly enough to really test the diaper in your daily life and routine. But a case of 60 diapers is certainly more than enough to thoroughly test the fit and performance of a diaper thru your daily routine. With the "every day" price of $1.33 the Wellness Brief is economical compared to the other premium diapers. The 99 cent introductory offer is hard to pass up, in my opinion. And for what it's worth, I personally feel the Wellness does as well as Abena X-Plus (now the M4) and Molicare which have been my preferred diapers for disposables for some time. I have put them to the test and gone all day in the same diaper with no leaks!

Shipping is free for a case but not for packs of 20, so you can get a pack of 20 for the 99 cents but have to add shipping cost.

FIT:
I wish there was time for you to get the free sample pack of 2 diapers to test fit as they run large in my opinion. I measure my waist at 38" and that should mean a Large Wellness but they were too big....wearable, but too big. The Medium fit just fine....so if you are in the 38-39" waist range, get the Medium. But if you do get the large, they will still work.

You are welcome, Schoppy! I was eager to "share the wealth" that Steve offered on Brew's site and he agreed whole heartedly the folks on our Schoppy forum should have a shot at this "inside offer" for members of the two incon sites. He has applied for membership here and is already a member on Brew's site.

I am in your camp as a cloth diaper wearer but....as we both know there are times we need the outright convenience of a disposable but we also need a "good disposable" and that always meant an Abena or Moli at around $1.50 to $1.60 per. For us, who don't use them all the time, that cost wasn't all that bad....for the superior performance. We who wear cloth get used to never having to experience a leak....and unless a premium disposable is worn, I found a leak pretty much inevitable when I had to wear / chose to wear a disposable.

The folks that wear disposables all the time mostly have worked out combinations of premium diapers and lesser quality diapers to keep themselves dry all day and all night without going to the poor house. Sandy's secret is scouring Ebay and finding bargain diapers....others have had good success with thrift stores.....but neither can be counted on for an ongoing supply or a re-supply when you need them.

I took advantage of this offer to get two cases and I'd like to get more but I don't wear disposables on a regular basis and I do think disposables have a shelf life with the adhesive on the tapes. After a couple of years, or more, in storage, diaper tapes may not stick as well or at all.

I did try a Wellness Brief overnight.....not expecting much....and I was pleasantly surprised by waking in a dry bed! It was just one night, but still, I was impressed. Abena X-Plus' have leaked on me overnight. My best success was when traveling in Ireland, a decade or so back, where I was introduced to the European Tena Slip Maxi and it kept me reliable dry in the hotel beds. The Tena available here in the States is not the same diaper by a mile! Only the name is similar...same ownership....but the machines are very different and so are the diapers.

Happy New Year, Folks!

Interesting that I went to look, and see if I could get them to Canada, as they have a Canada website, but could not get the code to work, and shipping was rediculous, must not be free shipping in Canada I guess. For just 4 samples they quote the shipping costs via Canada Post at :
Rate Info
Thursday - January 5, 2012 - $162.72
2 days to delivery
CANADA POST PRIORITY COURIER Service

Friday - January 13, 2012 - $54.48
10 days to delivery
CANADA POST REGULAR Service

Tuesday - January 10, 2012 - $62.48
7 days to delivery

HONESTLY? That is just for samples... WOW!   I can order them throuth the American site, and the Fed-ex shipping was $12.80 for a case. To get a case from the Canada site, the shipping was not included... nor was the lower price on the case buy...

Rate Info
Thursday - January 5, 2012 - $125.10
2 days to delivery
CANADA POST PRIORITY COURIER Service

Friday - January 13, 2012 - $32.68
10 days to delivery
CANADA POST REGULAR Service

Tuesday - January 10, 2012 - $40.68

no coupon code accepted, only thing I can think of that I didn't look at was I went through it as unregistered, and that may be it, I am not sure... Do you need to have a registered account to get "said" shipping and special cost? Worth a look for me for another product, but just more of "wondering" as I always like to have back-up suppliers. XP Medical was the same, super high shipping to get anything to Canada, not worth it in the long run, but if shipping was included, then it is a viable option... :? Puffy

The Wellness diaper sounds like a great alternative to the Abena which I have used for some time. However, I'm not a big person. My waist measures between 29-30 inches, hips 34-35, weight 135lbs. I'm thinking the medium would be too large. Am I right?

It's not the seller that sets the shipping costs, it's the shipping company that sets them.

I registered and did get the discount on the last page but I'm in the US too. If I knew how good (from personal experience) I'd order two more cases!

Yes I know that it is not the company on the site, it is Canada Post, seems that most all the sites that are U.S. based have shipping costs that make it not worth the purchase in the long run. Some have been good, but not many, far better off going through Fed-Ex to ship, :) Puffy

Dennis,
I don't think the medium Wellness would be "too big" for you- 29-30" waist. The rear of the diaper will overlap the front of the diaper about 5" to 6" and that would mean the tapes would fasten in the front and still be 8" to 9" apart from each other.....which suggests a decent fit.

Getting the free two diaper sample would confirm that or show that it won't work for you.....but unless you've gotten the sample pack by now....that won't work to get on the 99 cent offer due to expire in two days.

Your risk in getting a case of 60 and finding they are indeed too large.....is a diaper that you can still wear but will require some support from snug fitting underpants and possibly plastic pants for back up. That's what I do with the case of large I got some time back, long before this offer, and got large because I'm a 38 waist and they are way too big.

Thanks for the info. I emailed the Wellness site, and they did not think the medium would be too large as well. So, I ordered a bag of 20 to begin with to see if I like them better then the Abena diaper I use. We will see. The Abena brand diaper is really good. I just wish it didn't have the stripe and design on it.
