Welcome to the forum Max. As you noticed there are alot of people on this forum that can lend advice. Many have been incontinent for years so these people have alot of experience. I have learned a great deal from this forum. There are many that will talk with you if you need something; just send them a message.

I personally have been incontinent for about three years. I have bladder and occasional bowel incontinence a few times a week. The doctors try to help me but I'm only willing to try so much. I have been on many different meds and I'm not willing to try surgery. That is the next step. But I don't want to do it. I wear Abena Xplus and Extra's. They allow me to live my life to the fullest and the best part is the diapers have no side effects. I never get diaper rash. I think thats the only downside besides that its a little warm down below. But the Abena's are not that hot. As long as I don't wear plastic pants over it I'm good. The Extra's are a very versatile diaper. I can wear them with board shorts. I can wear practically any type of short as long as its not form fitting type stuff like spandex. Which I don't wear anyway so it doesn't matter.

Have you been to a urologist? What do they say about your incontinence???

Hey Don i have been diagonosed with urge incontinence (even though sometimes i leak when doing random activities) which im guessing is a bit of stress incontinence. Like you i considered surgery but at the moment i am happy living my life how it is.
I also wear diapers normaly tranquility (i dont call them anything else because they are diapers!!!!)

Max, I also have urge incontinence. Mine is caused by overactive bladder. It is a side effect of my psychiatric medication. I have bipolar disorder. Incontinence is a side effect of my antipsychotic medications. I have changed meds many times and the incontinence remains. I have tried many different bladder control meds with no luck. I think my bipolar drugs are too strong.

Welcome Maximusno2,

Incontinence is a cruel trick played on us by our body.....sometimes the result of an accident and sometimes the result of disease or the treatment of diseases.....incontinence is just a royal pain.

It is harder I'm sure for yougsters to deal with such a blow as incon. Older people may have a slight advantage in that life's experiences often hand out nasty things to deal with along the way....so when incon is dealt, some can accept it more easily than others.

In your case, a youngster at 20, it is difficult to accept that you cannot control your wetting and have to manage that wetting in order to go out in public and have a life. Most of us manage with diapers as you see reading the posts. Acceptance of diapers varies widely but with acceptance and the end of embarassing leaks out in the public you find life can go on.....you adapt and get on with life.

And we are fortunate to have a number of younger folks on this forum who can speak to the unique problems you face as you work to continue on with life, probably in diapers, pursuing a career and so on......

Best of luck to you and don't be bashful posting questions, concerns, or observations. We'll be happy to jump in with our two cents worth!

JoeK
