Back from a nice vacation last week. Drove out through the Appalations to SE North Carolina where the weather was much warmer than it has been here in the upper midwest. Daytime highs in the 70's was a really nice change of pace. We had a great time. I was back into disposables for the trip and they worked OK for the most part. The only issue I really had was not being able to tell how wet I was until it was too-late. This happened while driving out and back so it wasn't a big deal. Plastic pants stopped any leaks. When sitting for long periods of time it is difficult to tell how wet I am when wearing disposables. This is not a problem with cloth as they feel wet when they get wet. In any case it was back to work this week  .

I also took a vacation recently. Last weekend, my wife and I took our oldest son to Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. I took along my Abena Xplus to wear at night and my Extra's to wear during the day. Sometimes its good to just get away with family and have some fun. I like doing this fairly often as it helps me get away from my medical problems. I often forget I even have the diapers on until its time to change. The Abena's are very comfortable to me. They allow me to live my life to the fullest despite my other problems.

It's great to hear this. For the first time since becoming incontinent me and my wife are going on vacation to Jamaica this April. I have no idea the diaper situation there and it's not something an agent would have information on either so... We are taking my weeks supply of bambino's and I have bought a swim diaper. More for around the pool than anything.

I'm so paranoid about having a puddle around where I'm sat and not having actually got in the pool yet. I managed to find a swim short that has a thick Terry water proof diaper inside. So I can at least get in and out of the pool without changing.

So thanks for giving me a little bit more confidence I guess guys. I was a little stressed out about going.

Charlie, Travelling can be a challenge for any incontinent individual but it isn't anything to lose sleep over. You just have to do a little planning ahead. Those of us who choose to use diapers to manage our incontinence know that they give us the freedom to get out and enjoy life outside of our homes. I have heard of people shipping their diapers ahead of time to their vacation destination. Then you would only need to bring what you need along for travelling and you would not have to shop around for diapers when you get to your destination. You would also be assured that you have the brand that you are accustomed to wearing. We drove when on vacation so it was simple enough to bring the diapers I would need for the week but if I were flying I would probably wait to purchase them after I arrived or I would have a package sent ahead to my hotel.

I will be flying to my vacation destination next month. I think I will be checking out shipping costs versus luggage fees from the airlines. The good part is that I probably will not be bringing as much back home at the end of the trip.

Threads like this seam to pop up at just the right time for me. Thanks for the advise.

Vacations are wonderful, that's for sure! And even travelling overseas need not be a hassle for those of us wearing diapers!

My experience has been with multiple trips to the UK. The first trip was quite the learning experience! I expected drug stores (called Chemists over there) to carry something in the way of adult diapers and I was surprised that they did NOT. Only baby diapers and some pads! Turns out I needed to seek out a medical supply store and they're only going to be in larger cities. That vacation still went reasonable well once I got my supply of Tena Slips....but there were some anxious moments!

Then all the subsequent trips were easy! I did my homework before leaving and email is a wonderful inexpensive way to communicate overseas and set up deliveries to a hotel on a certain day. I would always bring a "few spares" with me on the flight over and would make a local call once in country to confirm my arrival and the hotel and set up a delivery that always came in a day or two.

The excellent diapers that we now enjoy here in the States are available in Europe and the UK; especially Abena and Tena, plus others just as good and not imported to the US.

Howdy everyone

I got back from my vacation a week ago and had a real great time. I took my nephew down to watch the Shuttle launch and then we went camping in the Florida Keys for a couple days. Then I took him to Universal Studios for 3 days. We had a great time and I hope my photos all come out.

Only bad thing about my trip was when I got home and found that my hard drive in my computer crashed. I had lost everything on my computer. :( :(

It has taken a few days to get back online and going to take a long time to try to get some things back again. Including all of the backup files for this site/forum.

The trip was wonderful and I had packed a back-pack to carry my diapers and supplies. They had supplied lockers for people to put their stuff in for the rides (the lockers were a little small but worked out ok)
The Harry Potter ride was a blast and we rode that a couple times.

I got a list of new applications for the forum and I will be processing them later today. So if anyone has submitted an application, you should be notified real soon. :) :)

I also just want to say Thank-You to everyone on this site for making this a great place for people to visit and get a lot of help. :D :D :D

our MH so it's no problem there. I have one space in a cabinet in the bathroom for my diapers. The grandkids know I wear them so no problem there.
Last time we took a cruise we drove to the dock and I just took an extra bag. I did request a plastic sheet for the bed, the stewards showed me which bed had it. It was the wrong side from what I'm used to but it worked OK.
One of these days we're going to take a longer cruise (we go on Holland America) and I'll just have a case of diapers shipped ahead. I've already asked about it and they said no problem, it's done all the time. Wife wants to go to Hawaii on a ship rather than flying like we've done before.
When we went through the Panama Canal to FL I was able to take extra's with me as it was before the airlines started adding charges for each bag. I have also found that I use far fewer diapers when traveling since I'm up and around.
I did take a swim diaper, this was a two piece one with a tight fitting waterproof pant and then a cover. Didn't stop water from getting in but would keep stool out of the pool. When out of the pool just put a towel under you, if you wet then the towel will absorb it so no puddles under you. Or simply jump in the pool shower every once in a while. In a real emergency you can use the towels in your room and rinse them out in the tub.
Last time I flew I took diapers for a week or so, also checked a .45 in my luggage (was going back to rescue my step daughter from a BAD relationship). When going through security I was run through a totally separate line (no one else close even). They went through my carry on which had extra diapers. I know security saw them but never said a thing. I was also wearing plastic pants and a diaper, nothing said about that either.
