Stripping my diapers seems to have worked at getting the residue out that was causing the stronger than usual odor. I used the hot water method. It took about 3 hot water washes but there was no residue visibly left after the third rinse.

I'm still wearing cloth diapers to work instead of the disposables. Most days are good but I did have a couple that I needed to change. I keep several disposables in my truck which I use to change into to finish out the rest of the day.

I'm glad to hear the diaper "stripping" trick worked out. I was surprised at the results the first time I tried it. It was hard to believe there was leftover soap and what not after the diapers came out of the dryer smelling pretty clean. Good luck with the cloth during the day.

I tried what my grandmother and mother did when washing my younger siblings diapers. I remembered when I was stripping my diapers in hot water. My grandmother used to boil pretty much everything that needed to be sanitized including diapers. Has anyone boiled their diapers? I can't remember a great deal but I do remember them boiling diapers on occasion. It really could not be any more harmful than putting clean, dry diapers in the scalding water to strip them.

Hey DDS and everyone else that has chimed in on this message. I recently switched over to cloth for nights, and have been using a lavender scented soap, and Borax, then a 2nd rinse. I have not noticed any odor issues in the morning, just the normal wet diaper smell, but the stripping is a good idea, I am sure it would not need to be done that often in my case. I am awating summers arrival, when I can hang stuff outside to dry, everything always smells better when dried on the clothsline, although if the neighbours have a look at the load of laundry, it may raise an eyebrow... I am not concerned in that regard anyhow, just part of life for some of us! I use the heavier Kins pull-on, sometimes I use flats and pin, but I can't fathom using these during the day... they make my ass look HUGE! :D Even with a spandex lycra underwear over top of them, it is still large enough to be easily noticed. Maybe the thinner style pull-on cloth would be a bit less conspicuous, is that the trick? I am not sure what the capicity of a thinner less absorbant daytime diaper would be, but the heavy night ones do more then I need them to for sure. I would like to use cloth for daytime trips out, but am sure it would be noticed much easier then a disposable... what are you all using for daytime cloth diapers, if I can get some suggestions, I may go shopping with the ol' Visa! 8) Thanks, Puffy
