I've been wearing diapers for a couple of years now and have flown 4 or 5 times during that period. (If there's one place I really need to wear diapers, it's on the plane, where getting up to go to the washroom is not always easy or even possible. Could have saved myself a bit of grief had I started wearing a few years ago!) I've had no problem going through security with either cloth or disoposibles. The return leg of my last trip was after the "briefs bomber" incident and I half-expected to be stopped and questioned at security. Luckily there was no pat-down or full-body scanner.

I expect that if and when they start deploying scanners, I will have to explain the extra bulk in the crotch. I'm hoping that that can be done discretely.

Amazing all the personal rights and privacy that we will give up in the name of "security".

It's all a charade anyways, to make people think they are safe. You practically are strip-searched at the airport yet every day thousands of people walk across the border from Mexico illegally. The US needs to get its priorities straight.

Kudos Puddleguy. But that won't happen until the Country swings back right of center

Heh... we were right of center for 8 years, and a lot of good it did us. Dubya & friends were too busy playing in the sandbox with the Army and lining their pockets with oil dollars to do anything to actually improve this nation.

Unfortunately this new guy ain't done squat to impress me either.

Personally I have no confidence in Washington anymore... no matter what party is in power they all just get up their and make themselves richer while the rest of us get the shaft. What we need is a new group of people who actually read and abide by the Constitution... but short of a second American Revolution that ain't gonna happen.

The last time I looked this was an incontinence forum not a political one.

OK this is an incontinence forum.

An expectation of personal privacy is a very basic right. Many people with one form of incontinence or another live in fear of discovery. We fear our families, friends, and associated finding out. We stay locked in our homes living with our little secret in private. The fear can be debilitating. OK you say just get over it?

The airport civil liberties-bla-bla-bla constitution argument is certainly interesting, but here we are trying to discuss real issues in dealing with incontinence. This is a real issue. Being pulled aside at an airport because I am incontinent and have to wear a diaper is a fear. If I am traveling with colleagues, what questions will they have? How about others around me. I'd like to maintain a little personal dignity(and privacy). It looks like that could be taken away.

I'm not interested in starting an argument, but I think this a a good place to discuss privacy over medical conditions. How much are you willing to give up just to enjoy the right to travel freely without "delay or hindrance"? Sure let's all take a train?!?

I am all for security and using every avenue to prevent terrorists from getting on a plane. The fact that full body scanners may soon become common place does not bother me either. The fear is that some TSA person may see "all" of you and violate your privacy. Just stop and think for a moment, thousands of people go through security check points every day. TSA people sit at these monitors and are trained to watch for specific items, they are not there nor do they have the time to look at every part of your body as you walk by.

The one thing that would improve my experience of getting through a check point would be the use of privacy partitions. This way one could be scanned or searched or questioned without lurkers standing around for the next show. It is no ones business what we wear under our clothing and we should not be on public display even in the interest of public safety.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I wish they would say something to put our minds to rest whether it is to provide some sort of privacy screen or just put our fears to rest. Think of a mother traveling with several little children and having to deal with screaming kids scared as someone searches their diapers as well as the adults who try to maintain some sort of dignity.
