mohawkdone,
If you're having pretty much dailey accidents, I would start with maybe a pull-up. Really depends on how much yor leak. You mentioned a "flood". If that's the case, you'll be better off in a brief type diaper.
Some type of protection would prevent accidents from showing through.
You need to talk with your doctor more, but be patient. There could be a number of things that could be causing this. Good Luck! ....Paul Martin

Whatever you do don't buy the cheap brands. You get what you pay for and spending a little extra will provide comfort and save you from having any embarressing moments. I would recommend either the Abri, or molicare brands. Many of the online medical supply companies sell sample packs so you can try different brands in an effort to find the best product that best works for you. I would recommend you try this before spending a lot of money on one type of product.

Amen to that John.

The "expensive" diapers are worth every penny when it comes to comfort and capacity.

I would definitely recommend the Abri-form line by Abena. They are available in several different protection levels.

Try XPMedical.com

As you probably know, incontinence can be caused by many things. The only way your going to know the cause of the problem is to under go some medical tests. Most the time this is pretty simple and doesn't take much time before a doc can make proper diagnosis with the use of a few tests. Many times meds can help, but not always depending on the cause. I would recommend you make an appointment to see your doc as soon as possible. Simple and easy.... :)

I've talked to a lot of people who have a hard time understanding the need for protection.

It may be embarassing to have to buy and wear diapers... but proper protection will save you a lot more embarassment (accidents) down the road.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have to experience something traumatic like a big public wetting to understand that they need help.

That sucks.

Thus why it is always important to go to the hospital and get checked out after any car crash. Insurance will cover the hospital bills... and they may find something that could lead to more problems down the road.

Mo,

The damage to those discs can indeed cause you problems like this, if they are pressing on the right nerves. I lost my control after having back surgery to fuse those three together after they began to deteriorate so bad I had to be hauled out of work on a stretcher and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. That was the second time I was taken to the hospital from work like that. The first time was when I ruptured a disc in my neck and had to have emergency surgery to fuse it.

Anyway, I would be sure to mention to your doctor about that damage if he/or she doesn't already know about it. My urologist still hasn't come to a decision as to what exactly has caused my problems, but after 4 surgeries and a 5th one coming up in a couple of months, I don't think it really matters anymore.

Good luck on your doctors visit. And like some others here have said, you might want to try some type of protection to keep your pants dry. Nobody ever notices your diapers, but they will certainly see your wet pants.

Rick
