Glad to your alright. Knock on wood, I get a bad cold about once a year and that's about it. However, what I don't catch in the way of the flu and other common communal diseases, I have more than made up for in other health issues like muscles spasms, etc.

Sandy, you should see if you can get Jane to go to the same medical office you had the test done just so Jane could tell the same nurse the fashion is catching on.

So far, i haven't had anyone ask me why im wearing a diaper... docs know about the incon..in fact, that's the primary reason why im seeing all these docs..ROFL Sandy! I LOVE your reaction. What kind of question is that? Did she somehow think you'd be wearing a diaper for the heck of it? I know some do..but.. you'd think medical ppl would be more understanding.. i have no prob being in front of the doc wearing diapers..

But, it does get akward when people ask me why im carrying a backpack.. been asked that 3 times now.. One asked " why are you carrying a backpack?" Another asked "what are you carrying?" and a third, "why do you need your backpack?" All 3 i was either able to avoid or dodge... but maybe i should just say.. well lemme show ya.. and see their totally embarassed reaction... id rather not though LOL.

Hi,

I'm new here, or least this is my first time posting. While I have never been embarrassed in the doctor's examination room, I have been in hospitals. I have been dealing with incontinence for more than 3 decades, and manage it well, but there are still those occasions where embarrassing incidents rears it's ugly head.

No matter how discreet we try to be, there are those occasions where we can get caught with our pants down. My face has been red more than once, and to have this happen in front of a health care professional, innocently or not, can be a set back.

I'm fortunate in my work life, as I split my day up between office and home office and I carry my diapers in a computer bag in the car. I travel in my work, and hotels have been very accomodating. I work in the legal field and my cases are heard in hotel Boardrooms, and I really have no issues with incontinence and my work. Many of my friends and colleagues know, and managing my everyday issues with this brings me confidence to overcome. But acceptance that there will be those days, where everything that can go wrong will go wrong, including a bad day with incontinence.

Hi everyone, I hope I can be an ear and a voice.

That is pretty much how I broke the ice with my boss at work. The first two times he asked about my bag I told him it was "personal items"... the third time, I unzipped it and showed him. After about a million appologies (when I was laughing) he got the point and let it be.

Hi Sandy and everyone else,

Well, I have a long history in trying to manage my incontinence, with some very frustrating early years. I was born with a spinal chord tumour, which was asymptomatic until my early 20's. Then the problems started following surgery. I have not had full control since then. By looking at me you would never recognize I had any problem. The only residual physical problem was bladder urgency with incontinence.

Since then, and with numerous life altering decisions I gained the confidence over the years to overcome the setback incontinenence brought.

I'm Canadian, and was instrumental in bringing a U.S. based non-profit organization that helps people with incontinence, to Canada and sat on it's first Board of Directors.

I'm married, have 2 wonderful children, and 3 grandchildren, and oh yeah I run marathons with my 30 year old daughter.

I work in the legal profession and I represent injured and disabled workers. This is me in a nutshell............today.........yesteryear I was very much a recluse, directly due to my incontinence.

I have read many of the posts on this forum, and I don't think I am much different than most, aside from the experiences. I have spoken in public many times about this, so I'm not afraid to share anything.

Thanks for asking, and Sandy I bet there are many more women reading these posts than are registered, and I am aware that this condition is very prevalent with the finer sex, but females may have a relunctance to come out of the closet so to speak.

Have a pleasant evening

Hello Harperlee,

Be advised,...... Sandy is the leading expert in the forum on how to buy incontinent briefs/diapers on eBay at deep discounts with small pin holes. Additionally, she does not believe in the use of a sponge, but instead,..... encourages everyone to either buy damaged goods from eBay, and/or use a paper towel, trash bag, and masking tape whenever possible for protection.

If you enjoy a little humour, you will fit right into this forum. We have a lot of fun, but we also have our serious side of sharing thoughts, ideas, and life experiences.

Reportedly, Sandy is said to be starting a new fashion for women so maybe we will have more women joining the forum soon.

I'm sure you'll like all the friendly people here.

John
