Good thing you had that diaper on.

If you are taking suppositories that will definately mess with things.

What exactly is this "digital bowel evacuation" that you speak of?

Puddle guy, sometimes when im constipated, it is very difficult for me to get all the contents of my gut out at once. I sometimes take my fingers and manally pull out the stool.. Whether this led to stretching the anal ring too much i dont know. However, i do recall a similar episode happening before i even started using hemmoridal suppositories. I dont know what caused it.

Umm... yeah... using your hands can cause problems... that might be a partial explanation for you... unfortunately.

Maybe you should ask your doctor about it next time you go in.

Also... if you ever want to talk one-on-one sometime... add me on AIM... my SN is PuddleGuy.

well it didnt happen today, it could have been something i ate. If it happens again, i will definetly see my doctor about it. It's not a very common thing, but it has happened a few times

Yet again, i involuntarily had a bowel movement outside the toilet. I percieved the urge, held it back a bit, while i was reading an article, got up, went to the bathroom. and just like what happens with urination sometimes, i actually started defecating before i got situated on the toilet. It wasnt the whole movement.. just the first part of it.the rest was in the toilet.. im a bit concerened. The consistency of the stool was kinda liquidy.. so its possible it may be just diarreaah or really loose stools. One possibility is fecal impaction; which causes hard stool to form in the rectum and liquid stool oozes out around it. This is an inoppurtune time to see a doctor, i am leaving for Florida tomorrow. I sincerely hope this is not a repeat occurance, and cant help but wonder if this is related to the neuropathy. Any suggestions on how to deal with any continginceis in Florida would be greatly aprreciated. I dont often experience this.. so i'm not as used to it as the bladder issue. Thanks!

I don't know if you ever got an answer to this from your doctor or anything, but I thought I would say that I sometimes experience similar things.... I do not consider myself bowel incontinent, and I do not have any IBS symptoms, but I do sometimes experience bowel urgency which has very occasionally resulted in accidents. It is not like an upset stomach but just an inability to hold on long. It has been like that since I was a child an I did have a period of frequent slight accidents such as you describe when I was a teenager, which then went away. I have some other muscle and nerve problems and when these are worse I will sometimes have these bowel urgency problems. Also not helped by the fact that my mobility is reduced in these periods so it isn't easy to get to the toilet fast (but at least in these situations I am almost always in my own home so the accident is not such a problem as if I were in public, plus I will be wearing heavy protection in any case because of my bladder incontinence).

Bernadette.. thanks for your input.. i have seen my doctor about this.. not really conclusive.. it has not really happened for quite a long time (knock on wood) Im assuming it is due to constiopation, or something i ate. Unlike bladder it does not happen every day..and i am grateful for that.

I'm currently doing well with a bowel program. I am bowel incontinent and went through 2 years of soiling my diapers daily sometimes several times a day. My homecare nurse has done wonders for me. I still have messy accidents but a couple of times a month is better for all concerned as to a couple of times a day. As the nature of my condition goes and progresses I'll eventually no longer maintain a bowel program and give in to complete loss. Hopefully not for quite awhile though.

I think there is still a social taboo about nappies and especially about using them to do a poo.

However I have no choice as I am totally incontinent.

Yes it can be embarrassing but most the time when I fill my nappy, I just visit the nearest toilet I can find, clean myself up, but on a fresh nappy and continue my life.

I experience this sometimes too. I have urge incontinence and wear diapers for that but I am also being worked up for IBS. I have probably had about 6 or 7 fecal accidents in the past year. I have already had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, blood test, stool test, and CT Scan of my abdomen area to check for any abnormalities. I am constantly having loose BM's and having a good bit of fecal urgency. Sometimes, like the urine, I just can't make it. Sometimes the urge is too great, and while I'm trying to get the diaper off to have a bowel movement, it just starts coming out. I'm hoping that with all these tests, that the doctor will be able to make a decision about my condition so I'll know whats wrong.
