How do guys deal with store bathrooms and employees confronting you about shoplifting? I have had numerous instances where employees close to the bathrooms (they usually place the bathrooms right by customer service or dressing rooms) have said stuff like "no merchandise is allowed in the restroom" and "you can't take stuff into the bathroom". I have even had one instance where I was confronted after leaving the bathroom by two muscle men and the store manager asking me where I hid the merchandise. I usually say it is for a medical condition and that satisfies 95% of people. But for the last 5% I have had to show them the brief before they allowed me into the bathroom. In the store where I was confronted after the leaving the bathroom I had to go to the manager's office and pull my pants off before the guy would believe me. Of course these 5% of assholes apologized but it is still demeaning. Woman have it much easier since nobody questions them on bringing stuff into the bathroom. I typically use mini-garbage bags (dogie cleanups) or supermarket bags to bring the spare brief into the bathroom. Anybody have better ideas?

Have you considered contacting the Better Business Bureau and making a complaint?

I personally have never been confronted by anyone when changing in public but you'd better believe I would be PISSED beyond belief if I was. The store manager would never hear the end of it.

I have nver been confronted when taking a diaper in with me to change. I don't have much problem in the winter since I can hide the diaper in my coat pocket. Summer is the challenge. I just have to do my best to look inconspicuous carring a small bag with me.
IF I SHOULD BE CONFRONTED, I offer this suggestion. There is a new law that's been out for a long time now called ADA(American with Disability Act). Tell the employee/supervisor you have a disability and under this law he must allow you access. I would just mention you could file a complaint with the ADA people, and he'll back off really quick.
Sometimes I'm out where an extended wear diaper is still not enough. I usually know where the nice places are where you can do a quick change.
But anyway you look at this, it's a real hassle!! .........Paul Martin

I agree, it's a hassle to find a clean and private restroom for a diaper change. I sometimes wish I had small kids again to give me an obious excuse to use the family restroom in stores!

Even with this minor hassle, my life is still so much better since I stopped resisting being in diapers 24/7. I still know where all the best restrooms are in shopping centers, etc. However, now I can just walk to them instead of running in a panic!

I've not yet been confronted by anyone when changing in a store restroom. Actually I only been forced to use a big store restroom once for a diaper change. If I am forced to change while out of the house I usually find a gas station or a rest stop. I travel quite a bit during the day so I know several good places for a change without hassle. If worse comes to worse I can change in the privacy of my truck's topper.

For me changing at truck stops and rest areas was normal. Now that I am finnally on dissabillaty I don't have that problem. When out shopping I wear cloth diapers and don't worry about changing in public.

I'm surprised nobody else has run into this problem. I guess I look like a criminal :) Probably more likely that I change in stores often since I am on the road a lot as a consultant.
While it sounds nice to throw a stink and shove ADA rules and threats of lawsuits in their face, I have to think about the reality of the situation. The last thing I want is police showing up to make an official statement or having to testify about my situation. I know I would win in the end and probably end up with some dough but their is no way I can make myself go through the embarassment. Hard enough to talk about it with friends and family. I have seen the reaction of the few employees who made sure I was not taking store products in; a facial expression of trying to hide the fact that they were giggling on the inside after seeing the brief. I think trying to hide the bringing in of the briefs would make it worse since that is exactly what real shoplifters do. At least 95% of employees have a brain big enough to know that no real shoplifter would openly carry in a product they intend to steal.

I'll tell ya' truthfully... I've gotten to a point just recently where I don't really care if people see me carrying diapers or not. I still try to be discreet about it, but if I'm at work, on the road, or at a friend's place and need a change I just grab a fresh one from my bag and walk to the nearest restroom. If anyone happens to glance and sees what I'm carrying they know better than to say anything. I've never been confronted by anyone... I would hope that most people are polite and considerate enough to know better.
