Per realworldic's recommendation I just ordered a case of the "Hybrid" (cloth sides PE center/back) Molicare Comfort Super diapers for use here in Florida's heat and humidity this summer. I'll let everyone know how they perform after I get a chance to check them out. Might be a little while yet as the temps down here are still moderate and my PE backed Abena L4's are still pretty comfortable.

Sounds good!

As per my earlier post I ordered a case (only quantity avaiable) of the Molicare Comfort Super diapers from Cheaper Chux. Unfortunately what I received wasn't exactly what I ordered. Instead of the hybrid (plastic backsheet/cloth sides) style I received the all cloth Super Plus Molicares. An additional problem was the size range of the ones I received was different than what I had ordered and the lowest size was actually 5 inches larger than my waist. Before opening any of the packs I called the Cheaper Chux customer service and explained my problem. They were nice and said I could return them but I could also try some and see if I liked them, and if not I could still return them. I figured I really couldn't lose so I opened a pack and have been wearing them for the last few days.

The waist size (large) didn't turn out to be a real problem. Even though they do wrap around more than needed surprisedly the tapes fall perfectly at the front sides, right where I like them. They are also a bit "tall" but again not a significant issue. The one thing really good about them is that the crotch is really wide and is therefore really easy to get (and keep) into a nice V-shape. They are also quite thin/discreet and comfortable to wear temperature wise due to the all cloth backing.

Performance wise they have surprised me as they seemed very thin out of the package. They handle at least three full wettings (probably about 800mL for me) so that works OK too as a regular daytime diaper. When getting full they do droop and clump a bit but I haven't had any leaks and they don't swell up hugely so no complaints there either. I did try adding a Northshore size small booster and it did add to the capacity and seemed to eliminate the clumping to a large extent. Due to the generous width the boosters didn't interfere with the leak guards. One additional note here is that these are not the apparently newer "Premium" Super Plus version that Realworldic had mentioned in his test but they seem to be similar in performance.

Bottom line is that I'll probably just keep the case as they are working OK for me, especially with the boosters. However for my next order I might try one of the Tena Flex/Stretch style diapers instead of the all cloth (front & side) tab style. Hopefully the stretch sides will be cool, remain snug, and reduce the droop.

Thanks for the update!

I believe they added "Premium" later on for marketing and what you have is the replacement for the comfort super when they abandoned the plastic backing, I would be willing to bet the product you have is nearly identical to the version we tested if you got the Super plus variant. and only the packaging with the added word "Premium" is different!

I recently got some these Teni Stretch and my initial impression is these are as good as the Molicare product and just a bit thicker but very comfortable so far, we have not officially begun to test these As I have a large backlog but these will hit the lab stand-ins at some point.

Assuming that you tried several of the Tena Stretch diapers did you feel that the stretch feature made them stay up better than a regular all cloth disposable diaper? All cloth ones always sag at some point so I generally have to wear something (compression pant or granny panty) over them to keep them in place which tends to make them warmer to wear. Still not as sweaty as an all plastic backed diaper but not as cool as just an all cloth style.

I have used 1/2 of a package of Stretch Supers and so far I have mixed feeling on the fit and how it works, They stayed put better than I thought after first applied, However, the design (and this may connect to every product with this type connection) may have a flaw in that while it stays tight and in place around the waist it may get loose in the thigh area that In my opinion could be a critical issue. So far while I have experienced the product getting loose in the thigh I have yet to develop a leak that I can confirm is tied to this issue. and the performance of the products so far is much better than I thought after opening the package.

So far we have officially only tested only one product with the stretch sides the Wal-mart Assurance stretch brief and in that video, we thought we found a flaw in the design like stated above and so far this tends to track as it has a similar issue. BUT as I said the performance so far with the Tena seems good.

We need to test several other products with this design to see if it is a real issue.

Thanks for the additional info on the Tena Stretch diapers. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your regular tests on this diaper.

I'm fortunate to live in a place that gets warm in the summer, but not too hot, and no humidity! Still, summers are always a bit challenging. I wear a premium disposable diaper with a booster pad and plastic pants, and although this combination is very effective, it's also bulky...and hot in the summer. Shorts and air conditioning help. I also try to go undiapered for a while each day to give my skin a chance to dry out. That means I'll have to deal with wet pants sometimes, but if I'm careful it's not too bad. My wife and I love to take evening walks, and because it's dark outside, it's the safest time to go unprotected. Over the years I've wet my pants on many walks, but at night, that's not much of an issue.

I have very little experience with disposable diapers having the "cloth-like" exteriors or side panels. I've tried a few but didn't like them as I always felt damp and I thought the smell could be noticeable. With my severe overactive bladder I'm a heavy wetter and need a premium product with a plastic exterior.
