Yearly well man's physical

In a couple of weeks I have my yearly well man's physical with my GP. I get a little anxious and nervous when I see him. He knows of my bladder issues, and my prostatectomy/diverticulotomy from 14 months ago. Having him see me in a diaper will definitely raise my blood pressure which is already on the high side. I don't seem to have the same anxiety issues when my urologist sees me in a diaper, why should this be any different? Maybe, I should try going just wearing traditional briefs. But, then I would be nervous thinking that I may have an accident. How do others manage?

I like to wear a Tena Men's Pull-Up. It's the one with the vertical stripes and the colored waistband so it looks quite a bit like a pair of "sporty" mens underwear. If you look you can tell it has padding but to the casual observer it's not obvious that it's a diaper. It's pretty much a one and done pull-up but if you know you won't need to wear it for a long time or if there is a bathroom nearby it may work well for you. I keep a bag of these on hand for situations where my underwear might be seen by others.

I felt the same way for a long time. I got over it recently by accident. I wore a pull-up to a medical appointment with a specialist that I expected to be a consult. After I arrived, the specialist and a medical assistant wanted to do a full examination, which required me to strip down to my underwear. In my case, that was a Depend Real Fit. I was mortified, but the doctor and her nurse were confidant and efficient. Neither mentioned my pull-up. Both conducted the examination with total friendliness and normality. I think medical professionals just aren't fazed by very much. They probably see incontinent patients all the time.

You know, my wife says the same thing...medical professionals see this sort of thing all the time. I have severe OAB, and although I’ve been in diapers for years, I’m still mortified when when I’m seen in them in a doctor’s office. They’re always very professional, so this is all on me.

I have multiple chronic health conditions. I am in the doctors office at least once a month. I’ve seen my primary over 40 times in 2 years. Thats not even counting specialists. Which I have alot of those too. I’ve been seen wearing diapers dozens of times by medical professionals. And hospitals. I have only encountered ONE negative reaction. That was from an inexperienced resident M.D. I can’t wear pull-ons. So tab style is all I use. I have found that the doctors and nurses who have cared for me have been very understanding. Sometimes, when I meet a new doc, they ask questions. Rightly so. They just want to see if I’ve been evaluated and if there is something they can do to help. Once I tell them my diagnosis that put me in them, it’s pretty much understood. Especially when I explain where I’ve been and what I’ve been through. I just try to keep it simple. But only once have I been ridiculed. And I complained to his faculty chair (in other words, the resident supervisor), the problem was solved. Never happened again!

I once had to strip to my underwear during a medical examination while I was wearing a regular diaper. I took into account that might happen so I wore regular boxers over it, since my policy is to disclose if called for but no unneeded advertising. The doctor didn't say a word, and my assumption is he would have asked about it if he realized.

I've always been surprised that some doctors have asked about my "protection" while others have totally ignored it during similar check-ups. I always end up bringing it up due to my BPH which I always have them check for as well as my PSA.
