It sounds like you had a great time with your long trip. :D
Im glad that you got to see the Indy 500 race and yes it was really hot out that day.
Lots of sweating and I saw a lot of people that needed help to get out of the stands and into some shade.

Where did you end up sitting? I was in turn 4.
The attendance was up this year, they say its usually about 300,000 people but the track never releases the total count.

Now the real question.
Would you do it all over again and come see the race again?

Hi Schoppy:
I was just at the end of the pits a bit before Turn 1. We were down pretty low so it was a bit difficult to see the cars on the front straight but we had a great view of the end of the pits and also of Turn 1. It was really hot but after the first hour of the race we were in the shade and with the humidity being pretty low (49%) this Florida Boy was pretty comfortable even in my plastic backed Dry 24/7 diaper and PUL pants. We were also right in front of one of the Jumbotrons so we got to see a lot of the race from the TV point of view not to mention replays.
And yes, I would definitely like to go again, especially so now that I know the "lay of the land". The next time I would get to the area around 7am, park much closer on 16th street and be ready for a morning tailgate party. Then being quite close to the track head over just a hour or so before the beginning of the race. Unfortunately it's a very long drive (round trip was 2400 miles) but I would still consider it as it is quite the spectacle and I really like racing.

I'm still jealous, but the view from my Lazy Boy chair was pretty good too. I never saw you wave Schoppy,....maybe next year the TV camera will catch you waving to all the race fans watching TV.

Glad to hear all went well. :) :D

Hey Johnstone, didn't you see me waving to the TV camera down near Turn 1?
I was the guy wearing a big diaper under my shorts! :D

You didn't see me waving? :?: :?: :?: I waved at my TV,...I was the guy sitting in the beige color Lazy Boy chair from the comfort of my home. I'll watch for your wave next year. From my view,...the race track looked like a full house on a very warm day. All the comfort of home sitting in my Lazy Boy. :D

I know exactly what you mean about the Laz-E-Boy thing. I live just 30 minutes from Daytona International Speedway and don't attend all of the big Nascar races. Sitting at home in a comfy chair beats fighting the crowds and it sure is a lot cheaper, not to mention you actually get a better view of all the action and replays. The only downside is that there's just something special about the actual experience, feeling the vibrations, hearing the sounds, and of course getting covered with rubber dust. :D

I grew up about 45 minutes north of Indianapolis and only went to the race a handful of times. My dad liked to watch it on TV but a lot of my friends and their parents loved it. Its hard for me to be in large crowds and the loud cars were a bit too much (but I liked to go to punk shows. Go figure) but it was fun the few times I went. I think it's the excitement and energy. Glad you had a good time and didn't have too many significant issues.
