so tomorrow morning i go to see my (in my humble opinion worthless) urologist.
im not expecting much. last time he didnt even remember me.
i wore underwear tonight and soaked them. i wanted to be like "im fine now i dont need you or diapers" but thats not the case. i was at home thank goodness.
my general practitioner keeps suggesting catheters. she said i would have to empty it every 4 hours and that just doesnt fit with my lifestyle. plus with the amount of infections i get anyway, id probably get an infection from a catheter too.
i have a case of a+ so im set for awhile. just wishing things were different, but what good does that do?

Boy, does your situation/schedule sound like mine. I too have an appointment with my urologist tomorrow...actually Wed. I'm not sure what course of action he will suggest. I had been having lots of pressure and pain before, during, and after voiding, but that has subsided a little. I still have lots of retention causing the urge accidents. Also, the other day when I thought I was done peeing, a few minutes late I looked down, and I was wet...didn't even feel it. We have talked about TURP surgery, but he indicated that it would probably not help my incontinence much. I guess, I'm used to wearing a diaper but would sure like the pain associated with retention to go away. I also tried using a catheter, but got a very painful Uti, so won't do that again. So, let me know how your appointment went, and I will keep everyone posted how mine was.

my urologist basically threw up his hands and is referring me to someone else.
this guy had no clue. ran an ultrasound once and did a urine specimine. and threw meds at me. he was utterly worthless.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, a different urologist can give you some answers. I have had just about all the tests possible several times. I just hope I don't have to go through them again. I'm hoping for a definite course of action this time around.

Sorry but I'm kind of laughing at that. It's unfortunate, but this has been my experience with WAY too many urologists before as well. Well at least you're in good company, and now able to (hopefully) find a urologist that IS competent.

Good luck with the new urologist. Hope you have better luck that you had.

Just remember, 50% of all urologist were in the bottom half of their class.
What do you call the person in the bottom of their class? Doctor!
So dont feel alone that you have had a bad one, lets just all hope that your next one knows what they are supposed to know.

justej,

Good luck with your new urologist; anybody you find randomly must be an improvement. Keep us informed.
