Mentally and physically?

It happened again

I could feel that i needed to have a bowel movement.. and it seemed pretty urgent but 9 times out of 10, i can usually still make it even if the fecal matter is protruding a bit from my anus... not this time.. this time it was the whole bowel movement

. I guess i must be really constipated, because it was all mush... looks like some enemas or glycerin suppositores are in order. All i can say is thank goodness i happened to be wearing a disposable when it happened.
Peace out!

Rob,
Sorry about your accident, but it happens to many of us. As I have said before, "be thankful for your diaper." Otherwise it would have been much worse.

Rob,
Add my concern and best wishes. Fecal incontinence is the pits. If this continues, you may want to schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist and/or a physical therapist who specializes in bowel control issues. There are many things you can do to manage; however, you will need someone academically prepared to instruct you. Good luck and keep us informed.

Hey, I'm not bowel incontinent (just weakened back there) and have still had this same thing happen to me. (Most times it's when I'm 99% done with something and want to finish it before taking that needed break). My end result is thinking the same thing in being glad I'm already diapered.
Correct me if I'm wrong too, but isn't being constipated having hard and difficult to pass stool? My doctor has me take extra fiber supplements (and lots of water) to keep my stool softer and mush enough to help promote easier passage without needing to stain and push.

Brian, you are correct, but heres the thing.. consitpation can actually cause bowel incontience by way of stool blocking and streching the muscles in the anus, causing stool leakage. The hard stool blocks the bowel movement, even the softer movements, so it pushes its way past the hardended stool, and since the muscles are weaker, they are unable to hold in the mush. Does this make sense?
Peace out!

This topic borders on my experience with gastroparesis. I manage it with erythromycin, ranitidine, ducosate sodium (a stool softener), laxatives and enemas. The recommended diet for GP is low residue, or no residue, which always gives me a colon blockage. Diarrhea seeps around the blockage, leaks out, sometimes with a gush, and I thank God that I'm wearing a diaper. To manage this, I take a ducosate sodium tablet with every low residue meal. However, this is not always enough, and, sometimes, it is too much; either way, I give myself a bowel accident. I hadn't had a BM in three days, so, Sunday at supper, I included a duscosate sodium dose. Sometime during the night I had a fecal release that did not awaken me. However, when I woke up, I had a large cleanup job. Live and learn.

Ah, yeah that does make sense. Darn, my blockages were always so complete I never had that happen to me. Just way too much straining and pushing till I bled too.
