Hi everybody,
Went to the urologist in early August regarding my prostate and nighttime incontinence. He prescribed me Tamsulosin HCL which is an alpha blocker and the only side effect he warned me about was post-nasal drip which I have experienced. He thought it would take 6 weeks before I would see any improvement but I noticed my urine stream seemed to get incredibly strong after 2 weeks. I've stopped taking my Pygeum supplements so I can better judge the effect of the Tamsulosin.
So far so good.

Careful with that post nasal drip, and I hope it's not too bad for you. I've had it for 20 years, and it's way worse than night time incontinence (in my opinion).

It's bad enough for me that I will wake up at least once or twice a night needing to cough up the phlegm from my nasal drip. After coughing it up I'm fully awake and have an incredibly had time falling back asleep.

The post nasal drip is barely there, quite mild in fact.

Hi all,
I have been on Flomax/Tamsulosin for 2 months almost and boy I feel like a new man. The urine stream is very strong, no dribbling, and no bed wetting. I haven't even taken the Pygeum for close to 6 weeks. I've been sleeping without diapers for close to a month now with no accidents (1 somewhat close call - see below) and I rarely even wake up to go to the bathroom. I'm pretty much sleeping throughout the night. At my follow-up appointment today I had an ultrasound of the bladder to ensure that I'm fully emptying and I have no problems with that. The only side effect to the med is a slight stuffy/runny nose.
I did have one near miss at night when I woke up badly needing to pee. I had been drinking wine later than usual that evening so I'm sure that's the cause. I will likely choose to wear protection when I've had alcohol later in the evening just to be one the safe side but I'm also going to not drink any wine after 8 p.m.
I'll read through any replies and I'll reply as necessary but after that I'm hoping to not need to come on this site too often. Take care all and thank you for all the advice and encouragement you've given. I wish I had followed your advice to see the urologist sooner.

Hi, G - I'm happy to know that you have had a good experience and result with Flomax/Tamsulosin. I'm glad that your issues appear to have resolved. Best wishes.

Yeah, that's great news to hear a medication is actually working as it's supposed to.
