I have several specialist doctors: cardiologist, gastroenterologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, audiologist, urologist, etc., and all of their staffs have seen my diapers during the course of getting me ready for treatment, or treating me. It comes with the territory.

Hi Justej

They probably didnt think twice about it, they see diapers every day and a range of ages from young to old. Try not to stress about it as Patrick said it comes with the territory. As time goes by you will get use to your diaper being exposed once in a while.

But the important thing is are you ok did they find out whats wrong at the ER.

hope all is ok

Rob

What a nightmare of a day. I took the day off work because I was supposed to have a housing inspection and my diapers were supposed to come.
3pm rolled around and my inspection got cancelled (I had to call. A phone call from them would have been nice). My diapers never showed up. I spent 5 hours at the er and left because I was going to be waiting at LEAST 5 hours more because "several people" were ahead of me. That was at 10pm. I have an appointment at 9:10am with my surgeon for my leg because it appears something is torn and its possible I may lose part of or all use of my leg. And on top of everything my water bottle opened up in my bag.

Tomorrow after my appointment Ill go to urgent care to get checked out.

Im on my way home and cant wait to pull the covers over my head and forget today even happened.

Ej,
I hope today is a better day for you, I agree heck it feels like half the world has seen me in a diaper or my Foley and leg bag. As time goes by it will get easier for you when it happens, now it doesn't even get a second thought from me when it happens.

The worst for me has been when getting prepped for a urological surgery. Not only do they check down there, but I get asked several times if I'm completely naked under that gown. Of course I'm not and have to remind them I'm diapered for my incontinence. To which they will take it off me in the or.

Well, afterwards is probably worse now that I think about it. I always wake up naked after those surgeries, and always have to ask for a diaper. Then of course the nurse has to help me with it since I'm still groggy and half out of it from the anestesia.

Still, even that gets almost not embarrassing at all once you've been through it a half dozen times. The same can be easily said for a doctor seeing the top of your diaper during an exam.

I agree, just tell the nurse or doctor you are incontinent and have to wear a diaper. It is not a problem for them. I can tell you that all the years I worked as a nurse, I would rather you wear a diaper than not. It is easier on the staff, they do not have to change the bed sheets if you void in the bed.

An adult with a diaper is a non event in a doctor's office or hospital.

Great point of view. Now if we could only make it so in general an adult with a diaper being a non event.

ive been seen in a diaper before. urologist, when i had my 2nd and 3rd leg surgery, and when i was in the hospital for my eye infection. hell, they changed me when i was in the hospital. its still the stigma of being 38 and in diapers. ill hopefully get over it.

and im doing somewhat better. it turns out it was my asthma due to the heat so i have to limit my time outside. and i saw my leg surgeon this morning and my tendon is inflamed. no work or pt, minimal walking, ice, boot, and aleve and tylenol twice a day for 2 weeks until i see him next. so ill be spending a lot of time indoors....
