gee,

Try wearing athletic compression pants as they both hold the diaper in place and help to smooth out any bumps. I like the UnderArmour brand, but any brand will do.

Gee,
I also use Under Armour athletic shorts in the longer version. I always wear them, for support, ease of pulling jeans over my diaper, and concealing my diaper.

i don't think i can wear something like that all day, or even a couple hours. somehow it makes me feel clostrophobic and likely to go crazy. just looking, i can't find men's shorts unless shorts are down to the knee and i personally hate that. tried those years ago for bike riding briefly before my problem and couldn't take it. i thought i once saw something on an incontinence site something that covered the underwear but not too much more but haven't been able to locate it anymore. women have shorts but men don't. also i tend to break out in sweats standing on the train to work and the underwear is alreasy so hot. but thinking this way now i'm just going crazy again. i really don't know what to do. you have suggested that there are ways of adjusting to this problem and becoming confident and comfortable and handle the problem and i'm not adjusting.

I use the Tena Fix Cotton Special boxers and they are very comfortable, smooths things out and holds everything in place. I don't know if you're able to get them, but I would recommend those if you feel like the compression shorts are too tight.

i don't know if they are too tight. the problem is that they are too long. i am looking for something that is a little higher in the waist than the underwear and maybe an inch or 2 longer in the leg than the underwear, just so - hopefully- areas that might leak, won't. and i guess, light weight enough that i won't get cooked. i get overheated very easily.

I use abena fixing pants they work well. They fit similar to underwear with a higher waistband.

I wear the Abena Abri-Fix fixing pants as well. They are not as tight as athletic compression shorts, but they are snug and supportive. I buy them from XPMedical (xpmedical.com).

I also recommend wearing some kind of waterproof cover over any disposable incontinence product as extra insurance against leaks. I use GaryWear Active Briefs, as they are sized to fit over disposable pull-ups and diapers. I buy them from Adult Cloth Diaper (adultclothdiaper.com).

When I wear disposable diapers, I wear the GaryWear brief over the diaper, and the Abena Abri-Fix fixing pant over the GaryWear brief. The diaper stays in place, and the padding doesn't silhouette through my pants or shorts.

When I wear cloth diapers (I wear Snap-EZ pocket diapers which have a waterproof outer cover), I wear the Abena Abri-Fix fixing pant over the diaper to smooth out any bulges created by the soaker insert and the snap panels.

Honestly, are there people who are both urinary and fecal incontinent with significant fecal incontinence that work full time in an office with coworkers around? Because I find that I spend way too much time in the restroom. Fecal is often a problem on my way to work and though I seem to manage cleanup pretty well, there's often the feeling of lingering odor and urinary is so often. I'm wondering if it really is just too much to try to handle at a full time job. So I want to know, can it be done? Can I master this and be discreet, comfortable and be an effective employee? Some suggestions from people here I might try but that creates embarrassment and complication at home with my family - and takes so much time. Is working in the office really possible?

Gee, I'm not fecal incontinent myself (though I did come too close to having it), but I do know of at least a few people who have said they were. I understand at least a few of them got their body on a regular timed voiding schedule. They did this by using enemas every morning, which then gets them through the day fairly well. After a while this voiding schedule sort of becomes normal for them, and they only use an enema one or two days a week to help maintain it.

At least one other I know of just diapers up, with a diaper cover to held contain it, and uses nullo on a daily basis. From what I understand, this person told his coworkers/boss or they just found out and were mostly understanding about it. His clients on the other hand, can get embarrassing but he just rolls with it.

Hope this helps, maybe others here can comment on it better though.

Life is a journey - and I think more so for you than for an average person. Your therapy sessions may lead to a cessation or reduction in either or both of your incontinence issues, or they may not. Only time (and effort) will tell. Medical intervention also may or may not help you.

You stated recently that Tena pull-ups are working acceptably for you, and asked about a fixing pant, but also stated that you are reluctant to try compression shorts because you suspect that they are too long and too hot for you. You didn't comment on the Abena Abri-Fix product which was also recommended in this thread. You stated that you don't want to change your manner of dress.

In consideration of everything that you have stated, you may want to explore the possibility of working from home, either at your current job/company, or somewhere else. It's my understanding that the ADA provides that employers must make "reasonable accommodation" for disabled employees. If your job/type of work lends itself to telecommuting, that may work out well for all concerned. You could also discuss with your physician and therapist the possibility of a disability rating that would render you unable to work. However, not having structure to your day and not being a productive member of society might create a level of emotional angst in and of itself. I'm guessing that to be classified as disabled you would need certification from your medical team (and you would possibly need to hire a disability lawyer). You mentioned that you are reluctant to discuss your medical issues.

Lastly, I wish you the best, and I can't begin to imagine how difficult life is for your wife and child(ren). I hope you appreciate them and treat them well.

W.
