Hey Everybody... hope everyone is having a great summer!

I'm in a situation and could use a little help...

Up until now, I have been wearing Dry 24/7 or Northshore Supremes to manage my bladder issues. So far they have worked great. Since I am able to work from home, I am able to conceal those under a pair of jeans just fine and not even think about it.

I have recently taken on some additional clients to my business (which is GREAT!), however, it means I have to dress up in slacks and traditional business attire. I figured I would give the Northshore Lites a try since they seem to have great absorbency, just are a little thinner and thus less noticeable under slacks. While they have proven to much less noticeable visually, they sure are LOUD. I have been wearing boxer briefs over them, but when I am in private meetings with clients, I can still hear the diaper rustling. I am trying not to be self conscious, as I know that most people don't expect a 33 year old businessman to be wearing a diaper. But I would like to reduce the noise if at all possible.

Any suggestions for concealing the noise a little better? Would a "onesie" work better than just boxer briefs? Any other diaper/brief recommendations for under nice dress slacks. I tend to avoid pull-up style if at all possible. Are any of the cloth backed diapers any better?

Thanks, guys! This community has been such an awesome resource to me!

DD,

Yes, wearing for the workplace is a bit different. You will receive numerous suggestions, but here is a start.

First, choose a diaper that is both thinner and more silent than what you are wearing. Until they stopped manufacturing them, my favorite was the Tena Slip Maxi (of which I still have a case stashed). The work diaper does not need to be super thin, just thinner. It is easy to hide a Level-3 size diaper under dress trousers, unless your trousers have a tight fit. Normally I prefer plastic-backed diapers, but for stealth business mode a cloth-like shell is quieter. That being said, I dislike most cloth-like shells. The big exception is the Seni line, a European diaper manufactured in Poland and available from XP Medical. The Teni diaper I like best is the Seni Quatro. If you search the archives you will find some discussions about it. The Seni Quatro in size Large is rated for maximum absorbency of 4.0 liters (128 oz) and a maximum useable capacity of 86 ounces. It has standing internal leak guards, elastic waist, etc. Best of all, it does not stretch as much as most cloth-backed diapers. I highly recommend it. When I do not wear my ConfiDry 24/7, I usually wear the Seni Quatro.

Second, wear a pair of PUL plastic pants. You can't afford a leak in a business setting and the extra layer will help to reduce sounds. The PUL laminated fabric is very quiet.

Third, definitely wear a onesie or compression shorts. Of the two, while I love my onesies, athletic compression pants will meet your needs better for a business setting as they not only hold up a sagging diaper but also reduce bulges that might be seen through a pair of dress trousers.

Good luck and let know what works for you.

Hi DD,

I use the Abena 'fixing' pants from XP Medical. I buy them a bit sung. At a 38 inch waist, the large fit well over an L4 or large Molicare, cut noise and hold everything in place. Good luck with the business. -Steve

Those choices also get my vote, Compression shorts, made of spandex, help the most I have found, I got mine thru Walmart, and not expensive. I am sure the Abena pant is the same style/fit. Good luck, let us know what direction you chose! Puffy

DD,

I'm going to be straight with you. All the suggestions thus far have been great but the fact of the matter is, and I'm sure others will agree is no one will notice. To us it sounds like we have a plastic grocery bag wrapped around our hips but it is far worse and loud for the wearer then those around us. If I were in that situation(and I have for the most part....several times) about the farthest I would go would be to clip my car keys to the outside of my pocket with one of those keychain clips and let them hang out and jingle. It makes enough ambient noise it will mask it just fine. I may think about the PUL covers but that would be just for a little more peace of mind.
This is life now and you can't live with this much fear all the time. It will be fine. No one will guess you have a diaper on. It would be the last thing that will cross their minds unless they have some back ground with diapers and in that case they won't out you anyways.
Be strong and let it go. You will be happier for it.

dd, There are a lot of people out here that are in diapers, have you ever noticed them, visually or by the sound their diapers make? We are all a tad too paranoid because WE know we are wearing diapers and automatically assume others easily can tell. They can't unless you almost go out of your way to advertise it. Relax, easier said than done I know, use common sense and go forth. Papa

I work in an office environment and still wear confidry24/7. Just don't worry about others noticing, nobody ever does. Of course you can still wear pleated front slacks which will hide a diaper bulge pretty well. I also wear PUL pants for catching that rare leak. This has the benefit of muffling the diaper crinkle quite effectively too though.

Thanks everyone for the input. I am going to start with compression shorts and then look in to the Seni Quatro and PUL pants to reduce the noise...I'll definitely let everyone know what works for me. Thanks for the suggestions...

As far as being afraid others will hear, I agree with Rope...

I am typically not too concerned with my chosen method of protection. Dealing with this is certainly not ideal at my age, but I try and make the best of the situation and protect myself as best I can. My question came from a place of never having experienced wearing diapers in this new setting. I know that most people will never guess I am wearing, but I'd still like to do everything I can to reduce the noise. I appreciate y'alls encouragement to just relax about it :)

I don't know the brands you are using (they are not available here), but if they are cloth-backed, boxer shorts and a long-hem undershirt should be enough to hide any rustling. At the beginning I was self-conscious about all the little sounds my diapers made, but I soon realized no one notices; in fact, I don't notice them at all myself either. So, hide 'em the best you can, but don't mind the possible sounds. There are a lot of other background noises that hide rustling. I would be more worried about the possible bulging, but then again, people don't really focus on others' gluteus maximus THAT much.

I would not be concerned about noise, I pretty much only use plastic backed, no one notices and I have been incontienent my whole life. I do wear cycling shorts too work and leave them on all day which makes them completely silent, if I don't ride in I wear a onesie/body stocking which is kind of like a compression top, works great. Trust me with no one cares, I am 29 and do a manual trade job and have never had (as far as I'm aware) anyone find out about me having to use protection. Except the wife etc. Anyway I hope this puts your mind at rest a little bit, cheers cycling_guy
