It's been a while since I posted anything, but today I'm feeling a little depressed. My incontinence is very unpredictable. My condition includes an enlarged prostate, bladder diverticulum, and spinal stenosis. Some days I have no issues, and other days several. For example, yesterday my wife and I were gone the entire day and evening, so obviously I wore a diaper, and took a couple extra just in case. Well, yesterday was one of those good days. I went through the entire day and evening without any problems. So, I'm thinking what a waste of a diaper...could I have made it through the day without? In a few weeks, I have another appointment with my urologist, and I will probably wear a diaper to the appointment ( it's some distance to the hospital). I'm hoping I can get some answers at that time. I have had multiple tests, tried a variety of meds, but no definitive answers yet. He did indicate that I am probably a candidate for surgery of some kind in the not to distance future. But, what kind? Turp? I've heard that may need to be repeated for some. Total removal of the prostate? I realize that I am retired, but getting tired of using my time for medical appointments. Sorry, but I guess I just needed to vent a little.

After reading my post, I want to apologize for posting something that is really not that important. There are so many individuals in this support group that have more serious issues than I. I am nearly 69 yrs. old, and, I guess, need to start accepting medical problems that come my way. Also, my subject title might sound a little confusing. I meant to add "and not wear protection".

Don't apologise. Please! We all have to vent about our condition regardless of our ages. I'm 29 and suffer pretty badly with urinary (only urinary thank god) with various diffrent symptoms. It's not your fault you have these issues! Vent as much as you need to as Incontience is very unpredictable. Today I'm having a awful day and used 3 briefs already and it's 3pm here. Chin up and think of the good things in life :)

We are all here to help and support each other as we all have good and bad days and need to vent once in a while :)

Remember you are not alone in having to deal with bladder issues.

Dp66, They say hindsight is 20/20. Yeah if you had known you wouldn't need a diaper then going without one would have made sense. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone who can truly see the future, and I'm guessing you don't either (let me know if you do though, I've got some lotto numbers that are a bigger deal than not wasting one diaper). Since you don't know for sure, I'd hardly call that a waste of a good diaper even if it doesn't get used. Even without use, I'm sure it brought you a sense of security, nor at the time did you have to worry about your incontinence issues.

I feel your pain on the doctors appointments though. I have WAY too many myself and I'm only 39. Don't let this get you down though, those appointments are there to make sure (or at least try to make sure) the rest of your time goes more smoothly and with less to get depressed over.

Dp66, PLEASE!!! Do NOT feel bad about posting here about that stuff!! We all have bad days and good days. Even with a supportive partner (wife, husband, life partner, domestic companion, etc) they still don't always fully understand what we go through. My wife is a nurse and helps me out a lot, though I don't think she always gets what I'm going through. After a while of listening to me complain about my issues.
Even with bladder issues still in the light/moderate category, I wear regular diapers at home and pullups at work. I could get away with quality pullups, though I like the security of regular diapers because I've always felt it was better to be overprotected. And pullups are more expensive for (generally speaking) lower level protection. Don't ever feel like you're "wasting" a diaper. If it provides you security then it is never a waste. We all need an outlet for our ups and downs, that is the whole purpose of being here.
