You can make an appeal to your insurance representatives. Most insurance people think diapers are all the same so why bother with something that costs more. Make the case of total absorbency not being enough to last even two hours (think running to the toilet every 1-2 hours), they do not hold up overnight, how much they leak, how loud they are, and you are more likely to get a rash with their brand of crap. Next, throw in the actual cost-per-day a Attends has, versus a better brand. Make sure to give them two or three alternatives, and where they can be bought online at (I'd recommend Northshore Supreme, Confidry 24/7 and a third diaper you otherwise like to use as well).

Once you make your case, there is a decent chance they will be willing to approve of one of them- especially once you've shown they will cost less and make you happier & healthier too.

I'm unsure about the pads in the US but the UK attends are really good pads... Apart from them being plastic and loud but at least they distribute wetting equally instead of bulking at the front.

The European design is much better than the US design on Attends (diapers at least) and a bunch of other brands too (Depends, Tena, & ID to name just a few). They are in essence, not even the same diapers. I wouldn't be surprised if this was also true for their pads.

WHY is that the Europe versions of most briefs are so much better, and they have a better variety as well, stuff that is not available over here in N.A. ? Puffy

One big reason is because diaper manufacturers are marketing to what general society thinks they want and not what they need. There is a huge misplaced hate in the US for people who need to wear a diaper. So in response, those who do first start needing them turn to the lowest profile, thinnest, and most discrete diaper they can find in order to keep it hidden at all costs.

I don't think it's a hate for people what wear diapers. It's a hate for the diapers themselves.

It's like, people don't hate cancer patients, they hate cancer; And a lot of people practice self deception regarding cancer until it gets really serious.

My mother in law is like that. She had lymphoma, but she also says she has a tumor (rather than cancer), and she's on a new chemo drug, but she always calls it by name, instead of saying chemotherapy (even though she has to go every 2 weeks and get an 8 hour IV infusion). She doesn't want the cancer to define her. She goes to great pains not to feel like a cancer patient.

Could be, but I'm not so sure. Over the decades I've had a couple of strangers notice I am diapered (for legitimate medical necessity), and have them try and start a bad argument, use name calling at me, etc., even ask why I am wearing one (like they don't know what they are used for duh).

These people have clearly expressed a hatred for other adults who are wearing a diaper and not just the diaper its self. While this could happen to cancer patients I have yet to see it myself.

That's very odd. I've never seen or heard of anything like that.

It IS very odd, isn't it. Granted this has only happened to me a few times in twenty years, but it has happened.
