Cheers Porkchop! What part of the forces are or were you in? I'm not in the forces myself but have always had a keen interest in the forces after being in Cubs, then Scouts and finally the Army Cadets as a youngster

I was in the US Army, I was infantry and in the 101st Airborne while in Iraq in 2003 and from 11/2004 to 12/2005. I did do JROTC in high school, I think that it is sort of like your Cubs and Cadets? Canadian I assume? I am not too aware of those programs though, so I am spit-balling here. Sorry that I missed responding, I thought I already had! :o

Hi Porkchop!

Sorry for late reply... had a lot on recently. I'm not Canadian, I'm from the UK, not sure what JROTC is but the Cubs and Scouts is basically outdoor survival skills and hobbies with sports and games. I mostly liked the survival oriented activities.

Hi Jenny! :)

Tardy welcome for St. Patrick! :D cheers mate, it's a great place here and helps so much, knowing others understand and have similar experiences

JakeJames,

Please add my tardy welcome to those above. We have a wide variety of folk here; their problems are often our problems, making the support both genuine and useful.

JROTC is a military class, uniforms and all, for high school age kids to take. Around 14-18, to teach patriotism and self discipline... and unofficially, to recruit. It depends on the service affiliation and unit officers, all retired officers from their respective branches, on what level of activity the units provide. So reading up, you described the Boy Scouts of America, which I also participated in. Great fun, camping and the like! :)
