Hey all,

Up until now attends 8 have been ok for at home incotninence managment.. Right now im using them around the house, and rationing Tena ultra for when i have to go somewhere other than work, since i don't have a lot of Tena left, and i spent most of my product budget for next month on pocket diapers... I figured no problem.. id just use attends 8 more often, save the Tena, and just use the pocket diapers as much as possible when they get here. Well, attends 8 have really cheap tapes sometimes. I just spent hte last 10 minutes trying to get an attends on without ripping the tape.. and 3 times i ripped the tape.. and i was even being careful.. Finally i said and im saying enough is enough.. ill just use the pocket diapers period.. I put on an Abena X-Plus and called it good. Hopefully the pocket diapers will be good.. i have minor issues with seams popping and fabrick stretching... but the maker told me so far its nothing to worry about.. One thing is for sure.. with the pocket diapers, unless i pull too hard, which i wont do, i think i figured out how to put it on without stranining the fabrick.. ill never have to worry about ripping a tape... and i even tried putting it on standing up..and it works just like a disposable does :D. There is one minor issue of it wicking at the leg bands.. but its just damp..its not like urine is actually making its way though... I think i can solve that problem by wearing one of their diaper covers or PUL pants over the diaper. So, with Attends being the cheap crap that they are and Tena ultra being an extra 360 PER YEAR in additon to my extended wear expenses..these pocket diapers are looking better and better as an option..

does anyone have a diaper here that they absolutely HATE? These attends 8 remind me of when I wore Wings supreme

Peace out!

Rob

Diapers I hate? Well the Kendell Wings the VA Pharmacy gave me were pretty pathetic.

As much as I love/loved (unfortunately past tense now) the old version of the Tena Slip Maxi is precisely how much I loathe the replacement from Tena still going by the same name. The new Tena Slip Maxi doesn't stay taped, sags badly when wet, the plastic shell in the center pulls apart from the cloth sides letting all the fluff fall out and worst of all, they leak like crazy if you have any kind of even a moderate flood because the protection zone is smaller in width now. All of these negative outcomes happened with every single diaper I wore from the bag I bought. Every single one. :x

I literally threw a partially un-used bag of these in the trash. I thought about donating them but that seemed cruel to do to someone who actually needs good protection. Surely Tena had to have tested this product somehow with some live humans and must have known this was a serious downgrade in their product. Shame on you, Tena. (And yes, I know... "Don't call me Surely").

Oh, CJ i TOTALLY agree about the Tena Slip Maxi...the new version SUCKS! I couldn't event get a diaper on to test the absorbency, because EVERY time without fail i attempt to tape one on...I rip a tab! Yeah, for me one of the best ways to know whether a diaper is worth it or not is how many times you rip a tab trying to put it on. With Tena it was every stinkin time! NOT worth my time. Why is it that manufactures have to take a decent product and totally ruin it??? It's happened with Tena, and Attends. My go-to staple diaper was Attends breathable extra absorbent before i got back on the medicaid diapers last year.. and tehn went to attedns breathable standard.. buying attends breathable extra absorbent out of pocket now and then. Attends took a decent prodcut and completly ruined it in my opinion. I wish there was a number where i could call and tell them what i think of their new breathable line.

Peace out!

Rob

Guys, we found something we all agree about - the pathetic new Tena Slip Maxi! :(

I still have a full case of the old plastic-backed Tena Slip Maxis that I keep to wear with dress clothes. As I am retired, it is my "go to church" diaper. I have been hoarding these diapers and only reluctantly use them.

The good news is that Tena is going to produce another plastic-shell Slip for sale in Europe. :D They seem to have suddenly realized that there still was a viable market for a good plastic-shell diaper. However, it is unclear whether it will be introduced to the U.S. market. If anyone has up-to-date info on this, please let us know.

If there is a diaper that I abhor, despise, and won't use again, it would be the old Depend with waist elastics that buttoned onto a jock strap type of pad that had all the absorbency and comfort of a Brillo pad.

JD,

I still have almost 3 cases of the old Tena Slip Maxi left (I went a little overboard when I heard they were dc'd). I actually thought about putting them up for sale much like a ticket scalper to a big game to see what kind of ridiculous price I could get for them but frankly, they have more value to me doing the job I need them to do and I'm rationing them exactly the same way you are. In the meantime, I'm floating around trying every brand I can think of with a plastic-back until I settle on a full time replacement. I'm currently giving Northshore's house brand a try. They fit me a little funny compared to the Tena's but they seem to work very well. Abena's, Molicare's and Dry 24/7's all feel like I'm wearing a giant pillow. What I'm hoping to come across is something akin to the Abena Level 3's which were much, much easier to conceal under clothes, felt much thinner but still did a really good job most of the time. Does anyone have any experience with anything close to the old, plastic Abena level 3's????

CJ

And if anyone from Tena ever reads this site/posting, please pull a "Coke Classic" and bring back the product that so many of us loved!!!!
