Re: Cloth diapering revisited...pocket diapers

Hi all,
I've bought once a pocket diaper as I thought this would be a good variation on disposable diapers. I have to admit that I don't like them as they tend to leak during the night. I'm most satisfied with the cotton pull-up diapers from babykins in Canada (http://www.babykins.com/store/adult-clo ... on-diaper/). Independent how you lay down in bed (back, belly or on your side), they absorb always. I wear plastic pants over them to protect any leakage. On average I wear three nights a week cotton diapers and the rest disposables. For me this is a good mix.

Hey Bob,

Were the pocket diapers you wore designed by an incontinent individual? How many inserts did you have? Ill llet you know ifi think these workfor me. Unlike you, my incontinence is striclty daytime.. so i dont worry as much about leaking while laying down. I think the maker of these improved on the design of other pocket diapers.

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

I've not bought the pocket diaper you reference, but I have purchased similar diapers before and the DON'T work as advertised. When you think about for a few minutes laying down flat will always be a problem and anything more than a small void will also be a problem. You asked for some input and I've given you my thoughts on the matter. If you think they are worth a try buy one and tell us your review. If you don't like it you can always dispose of it on eBay. Just my thoughts,.......

John,
I've been talking to the maker of these, and she is completely incontinent. She saw the design for the Snap-EZ diaper, didn't like it, and decided to make it better. She tells me that she has NO leaks regardless of position, using 4 inserts during the day. Her inserts are designed differently than other inserts. She uses flannel on the top to allow for quick acquisition of fluid so urine doesn't pool and get out of the legs, and combined that with 2 layers of terry hemp for excellent capacity.

I did order one a a few minutes ago. I expect it to get here in 3 weeks, since they are custom made. I will let you know what I think when i get them. I'm really excited to try this product.

Peace out!

Rob

You can always sell them on eBay. You will take a loss, but something is better than nothing.

Good luck.

John,

I'm curious, when you used pocket diapers, how many inserts did you use at a time?

I look forward to reading your review. If they work you, then maybe things have changed, but I still have my doubts.

Good luck.

Rob,I wanted to add my two cents worth in this discussion. I have several of the pocket diapers from Snap-Eze and have used them for several years. They can work if you add enough absorbancy. I have tried so many different types and styles of cloth diapers over the last 7-8 years. The washing can take a bit of time and will add some to your water bill and to the cost of heating the water. However, I still believe it can be cheaper than the cost of the premium diapers.

Right now I have gone back to disposables for overnight. My wife really felt that the smell from storing the diapers was something she did not like. She was the one that suggested that I go back to disposables for overnight. I do use the pocket diaper cover over the disposable, since it is waterproof and does have a light cloth liner to absorb any leaks. Since it is made from PUL it is a bit more breathable than the vinyl pants.

I have seen the site you shared with us as well, and really wanted to try out of the new style she has designed. I will be anxious to hear your report. Please let us know what you think!
