I need to check my insurance policy to see if my insurance would cover "act of nature" damage. That's a big loss in material goods, not to mention the labor that goes into the clean up. I'm not a tax expert, but I'm pretty sure you can deduct your loses from your taxes but you will need receipts, or some way of proving your loses. I am really surprised your insurance doesn't cover such a loss.

Howdy

Its time for me to update yall on my status.

Well my insurance does NOT cover this as its an act of nature. :( :(

Well I guess I got my basement cleaned out the hard way :?

Now I have to get a new washer and dryer. :?

I bought a bunch of plastic totes to store stuff in in-case it happens again, which I hope never happens.
I also have them up on shelves.

A friend of mine really helped me out on getting things carried out of the basement and helping me on getting all the junk thrown away.
Its amazing what we collect over the years and forget about. Then when something like this happens, we get to find all the neat things again.

I lost about 4 cases of different types of disposable diapers, 4 boxes of catheters, my washer and dryer and a bunch of other stuff.
It could have been a lot worse, I lucked out and only had a few inches of water instead of a couple feet.
I have a little mold/mildew in a couple areas that im treating but its not bad.

Schoppy

Sorry to hear about it not being covered. Glad to hear you had help cleaning up and it was only a few inches.

True that. Glad you got some help with the clean up, though.
