Ok, after giving it some thought I've settled on using either northshore care or Seni Quatro in the dishroom, and change once in 4 hours, and those should be breathable enough to where I am comfortable. The part now I have to figure out is how to make a diaper last from 4 Pm to 9.. thats 5 hours with adequate fluid intake. I am currently wearing Abena, and wanted to see if a single diaper unboosted could go the distance without leaking or feeling too uncomfortable. Right now.. i am about 3 hours in, and have had average fluid intake, 3 pint glasses or so.. and already the diaper is squishy in the crotch. That more or less tells me that I either will need to find a way to change, or need more absorbency. The problem is that would mean using ConfiDry and that would mean the occasional tape malfucntion, not to mention a lower acquisiton rate.

Why is it we can't have both high capacity and high aquisiton rate? Does anyone know how the acquisiton rate on Northshore care measures up?
I don't know.. i guess right now i plan to do a "diaper medley" buying a bag of Confidry, a bag of abena plus Seni Quatro and Northshore care.. Has anyone else noticed that the leak guads on the Seni Quatro seem flat? ... Could Abena with a booster give me both the acquisiton rate and capacity im lookng for? It's worth a try...
I have a sample of Northshore Care Air supreme on the way.. and it could be that's the one I end up using all around. The hardest part is stretching capacity to where I need it..

Any suggestions would be apprecaited!

To solve tape pops on my diapers I use white Ducktape around the diaper pulling a bit snug. Not to tight but enough to keep the diaper inplace and the tapes no longer pop

Adding Ducktape dos help but the noise can't be helped,

Tests show that most very high capacity diapers have a slower acquisition rate. A cheap 16-oz diaper has the fastest.

The Seni Quatro has a total capacity of 128 ounces - considerably more than the NorthShore Care diapers.

Wear the Seni with a booster pad and you are well protected for 6+ hours. I add a NorthShore Care small booster pad that holds 15 ounces.

Due to its construction, the Seni carries the fluid low between the legs, rather than in the front. It also is much softer than most diapers we have tried - particularly the plastic-shell diapers. It may feel very soft early on but that is nothing to be alarmed about. At the same stage a 24/7 would feel fairly firm.

Re tapes, the tapes on the Seni are good. However, as I will wear it to near capacity, I do reinforce the tapes. Please note that even when I wear a ConfiDry 24/7, my main diaper, I still reinforce the tapes. I also add a booster to the 24/7. Both are good diapers.

I also wear the ConfiDry 24/7 and would not that the 24/7 has a great capacity of 90 ounces, but that is less than the Seni!

The leak guards on the Seni Quatro do stick to the diaper itself and you do need to seperate them from the diaper before putting it on. Once you do that they work well.

The one hitch with Seni Quatro is that they are out of stock on XP Medical in size medium, otherwise it would be a no brainer as which one id use all around. I have tried on the large with pretty good results. They fit ok without leaving huge gaps in the legs and have not yet leaked on me when I tested them, but lets just say id ratehr have a size medium. Problem is, the medium would be out of stock until July.

Don't worry, I'll be fine.. Ill figure this out...but if anyone has any suggestions on how to make a large fit better on someone who usually uses a medium, let me know...

That is the only problem with the Senis. Gary has to estimate months ahead of time and guess when his supply will be depleted. They come in a big shipping container along with other diapers.

In your white paper, you mention that some booster pads become saturated and don't effectivley let the urine flow through to the diaper to be absorbed.. do you know which brands are like that? The booster pads I get through insurance are called Natrual liners.. Id appreciate any insight you have... Thanks!

The bottom line re booster pads is that, after testing several, I have settled on the NorthShore Care booster pads. I buy the size "small" by the case. Each pad is rated at 15 oz.! I would count on them actually absorbing 12 oz. as the rear of most pads often is not fully saturated when you take the diaper off.

I like the "small" size as most of the pad is actually used, making it more cost effective. Also, the small pad leaves a "gutter" space on either side between the booster and the leak guards of the diaper (if it has them) or the leg gathers. This space gives room for urine to be in direct contact with the mat of the diaper itself, as well as the booster pad. In case of a "flood" it also provides room for the urine so that it does not flow from the booster and over the top of the leak guards.

Some booster pads increase so much in height when saturated that the extra height causes the rear of the pad to rub between the crack in my butt.

Good news JD! It looks like the boosters you describe are pretty darn close in dimesions to what I get through insurance, and if I'm right, the capactity is pretty darn close too.. So it looks like I'm set . Believe it or not, I have 300 boosters stockpiled in my parent's storage room! I get 100 each month from insurance, and I ended up not using them as often as I thought I would because I eventually stared using premium brands a bag at a time for work purposes.. I found it overall more comfortable than a boosted attends... not to mention I needed to change less.. and I have about a case worth or so surplus of the Attends briefs, because when my incon resurfaced again in September, I had 3 bags unused in storage in my apartment..I initally asked J&B Medical (my Medicaid supplier) if I could only get the wipes for that month.. They said we don't like to send out just wipes.. we can but we dont like to.. not wanting to rock the boat, I said, ok go ahead and send me the usual case quantity.. Right now I have it set up for a case of 96 +1 bag every month of the Attends.. what used to be Attends breathable(the non-extra absorbent variety), what is now Attends Derma Dry Advance.. They changed the product... The jury is honestly out as to whether these changes are good or bad.. They did reduce some of the material and it fits differently, but on the upside they do have leak guards! They also claim to have a superabsorbent core.. but I'm still leery about trusting them for extended wear use like I would do with Abena. But I digress.. the point is, I should be WELL supplied when it comes to boosters this summer without having to spend a dime on them!
