I have the opposite problem in putting on a diaper. I have absolutely no difficulty putting on a diaper correctly while standing, but have difficulty when lying down (I need more practice, I guess).

I find that, when I must stand to change in a public restroom, using a handicapped or family facility is always best. I stand with my legs far apart, to give me the widest possible stance, for stability, and pinch the clean diaper between my back and the wall. Although some handicapped restrooms include wash basins, I usually just use pre-moistened wipes and wait until I get home to do a proper soap and water cleanup.

Yea I'm starting to get the hang of putting one on standing up!
I definitely prefer putting it on laying down, but it's getting better!

I found the easiest way to put a nappy on standing up was to use shorts as a support to bring the nappy up to the right place before attaching the tapes.
