It's been some years since I've stopped by. I was one of the founders of the ISC and wrote and/or edited much of what's still on here. I'm completely retired now in Rochester, NY - would be most interested in hearing from Schoppy or anyone else from back then. Beth? Big Mike?

I really miss all of the time spent with Tom (Slosher) - his passing was most unfortunate...

Anyway, I thought I'd say hello...

Great Gary... Yes, old Tom was an entertaining son of a gun... eccentric - yes... but always good for a laugh...

I'll try to stop regularly... don't quite feel right being an "adviser" again - even though heaven knows I went through the ringer on everything incon - but honestly, my problems are minimal now. My good old neurogenic bladder has behaved well since I became a "new" man... I decided I wanted to see my grandkids grow up - so had gastric bypass in 2012. I have lost 175#... waist has gone from 56" to 34"... has made quite a difference in everything...

Now that I'm completely retired, I've taken to writing novels... 3 so far... you can check them out at www.thedanichronicles.com

I'll keep in touch...

Wishing all of you the best... and hope your thanksgiving holiday was full of love and turkey...

That's awesome you lost that much weight. I'm glad the gastric bypass worked so well for you. We may need to change your screen name from Bigtom to something like Medium Tom or Not so Big Tom.

Actually, that's part of the reason (along with old age) that I haven't been around... while the back still acts up on occasion, the bladder has been pretty calm... not perfect but "calm"... the neurogenic bladder has not been a problem... it is one of a long list of things that are now "under control"... My diabetes is also completely in remission... it's such a cliché to tell a fat person to lose weight and I know more than most how difficult that is to do, but at least in my case going from a 56" waist to a 34" waist has resulting in several medical miracles... As I approach the big 70, this was something I felt I had to do - or risk not seeing the six grandkids become adults.

Thanks for all your kind words...

Congratulations on the weight loss. I also had gastric bypass about 12 years ago. Did you have it orthoscopicly? I had it the old fashion way with the 12 inch scar to prove it. It is not minor surgery. People have had major complications including death from it. I chose it to deal with my diabetes. Glad you are doing well. I went from about 340 to 180 pounds. I regained some until I was about 240. I've recently lost about 50 since my bowel issues started. Hope you've had no major complications and get to enjoy those grand kids for many years to come.
