I'm casting my vote for leak guards as well. The main times I see the benefit is when stirring for a while. I may leak past one but VERY rarely both. Please keep them. If given the choice, I will pay for the one with the leak guards every time. That is the only real feature that turned me off the XP brand.

Adam, if similar to the Attends, will they have the stretch waist bands?
I prefer the plastic backed but with the stretch waist bands, as they seem to stay tighter, and less stretching of the sides when active.

Unfortunately, the elastic in the waistbands, like used in Attends and Depend, is patent protected in the USA for about 2 more years. We will look to add them in at that time. We have noticed that many briefs that have the elastic in Europe have removed that feature when for US, which is likely due to the same reason. The few other briefs in the US that have the elastic in the waist, either haven't looked into the US patent, decided to ignore it, or have signed licensing agreements.

Sincerely,
Adam

Adam,

I realize that, for marketing purposes, the bowel-incontinent percentage of the population is relatively small, but please, please keep the leak guards. I am bowel incontinent and very active out of the home. I travel internationally despite my incontinence. To do that, I must have very effective diapers.

After a plastic shell, leak guards are the first and most important thing I look for in a diaper. Other things like waist elastics are frills, but, for me, standing leak guards are a necessity. Pardon the TMI, but usually I do not have just a little "bowel leakage. I have sudden full-void bowel movements. Afterward, at some point I will have to sit in a car to drive home or sit to remove my shoes and trousers in order to change the diaper and clean up. Without leak guards, the pressure from sitting frequently will force feces past the leg elastics, soiling the plastic pants and, perhaps, the outer clothing.

Adam, to a marketing person it may seem adequate if a diaper holds up after a bowel "accident" 80% of the time, due to reasonably good leg elastics. However, if you have to live wearing a diaper 80% just is not adequate. We are buying not just physical protection from incontinence, but the emotional confidence that we can rely on that protection to be adequate. Otherwise we tend to avoid social situations and become recluses. For me, at least, I can state that I deliberately purchase more diaper than I probably require for any given day for the peace of mind it provides. However, it pays off when I have a "disaster" and a good premium diaper saves me from public humiliation.

[sorry for ranting. off my soap box]

I agree with you that the leak guards are required for a brief to be marketed for bowel incontinence. We will redouble our efforts to try and keep costs down and still keep the leak guards on as many of our new products as possible. Thanks again for all the great feedback.

Sincerely,
Adam

I finally had a chance to use the samples I got of the Northshore line an I think they will give a lot of the name brands a run for their money. In my opinion, they are better then Tranquillity slimline and ATN and it has been a while but Tena as well. Only bad things I can say is, like Molicare, when it gets wet the absorbent material gets hard. The only time for me when this is a peroblem or gets uncomfortable is when I have to be very active like when I am at work. If I am at home having a lazy day or if I am using them to sleep in, it's not much of an issue. The fit, at least for my body type is just OK. The plastic backed version stays in place much better then the cloth backed ones but from my experiences this is true of all the cloth backed ones. The leak guards are awesome as are the tabs.
These may be too thick for me for daytime use but they are a solid option for night. The four I was sent I wore for 6-8 hours and had no leaks.
On a scale of 1to 10, I would give these a 8.5.

I have also used this product, but latest order received today has some changes. Different plastics. Not really sure if anything else has changed. First thought was disappointment. Not sure why changes were made. Product was great for confidence. Hopefully will prove to be now as well.

Same here. I've gone through less underpads due to switching to these, too.
Not to mention, I wear one of these, for every 2-3 of any other ones I tried. (Which is great money saver.)
