I think there is enough demand for plastic backed briefs in the US that it will still be around for many years. My guess is that it is possible that prices for the plastic backed briefs may go up some as the factories are already starting to pay more to get the plastic style. It's just simple supply and demand. As many of the manufacturers have switched to mostly cloth-like for briefs, that material is becoming cheaper and the plastic is becoming more expensive.

Adam, Thanks for that answer. I also prefer the plastic backed on most occasions. However, I have found that the cloth backed is much more discrete under business attire in a quiet work environment. If I were wearing jeans all day at work all the time I probably would never even consider cloth backed diapers. But I really don't feel like crinkling with every step through the office all the time. I do appreciate the samples that I received and I'm still deciding. I just ordered another case of the Seni Quatro cloth backed so it will take me some time to work through those until I'm ready for more. That being said, I see the benifits in the NorthShore Supreme line. I can say, that even though it has been called a "house diaper" I find it on par with other premium diapers such as Dry24/7 and Abena. So, well done in the development and production of this new diaper to the market. Also, please don't get rid of the plastic backing too soon. Thanks.

Thanks for the positive comments on the NorthShore Supreme briefs. We will not be getting rid of plastic backed briefs and will likely be the last one in the US still carrying them years from now when others cave in. Now that we are pruchasing direct from multiple factories we have made sure to partner with companies that agree to keep the plastic backed briefs available for us, even if costs increase.

We are also considering a lower cost USA made NorthShore brief in our Premium line. It will likely be available in both plastic and cloth-like as well for sizes medium, large and x-large, and possible others. We are targeting around 25 to 30% less expensive and less absorbent than the Supreme series, still with wide coverage in front and back. None of the USA made briefs hold together when fully saturated like the Supreme, but we know not everyone can afford the Supreme series. We are also considering removing the leak guards from the Premium series, similar to Tena, as we do get complaints from many customers that leak guards are irritating and we'd like to have an option for those customers.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has some thoughts on this type of potential Premium series briefs.

You mentioned you are considering an line with 25% less the the supreme, would you say this would be comparable to Abena's 2's and 3's?
Reason I ask is when I learned Abena was discontinuing the plastic backed in the 2's and 3's, I bought as many as I could because there was nothing out there that worked that well for the active job I have. I am down to my last two cases and I need to find something new. The cloth back 2's are OK but the diaper gets looser and looser throughout the day.

Yes, similar to Level 2 absorbency from Abena, but USA made so looking more like a Tranquility or Attends brief...with NorthShore customizations. We could look at a Level 2 absorbency from Europe as well but the costs are much higher. In the mid-level absorbency, we find that we are able to get good performance with the USA made briefs so that is our preference. Any reason you wouldn't look at a USA made level 2 brief for daytime usage, knowing it would be about 20% less in price than the European version?

Oh if I can buy made in the USA, I would. The Abena 2's I have found to be the best for my needs. I needed something less bulky but will not break up and fall apart with an active job. On the outside, for the most part, I am very normal and active. My experiences have found most are not made for holding several hours of wetting and to be in an upright position most of the day. The tranquility for example is on of the worse for this. 6 or 7 hours of wetting and most of the wet absorbent material falls to the center of the brief and there is no way for the remaining material to soak up anything without direct contact.
Does this make sense? Maybe some of the others here explain better.

Adam, Please don't get rid of the leak guards. I for one like them.

We would not remove the leak guards from our existing Supreme, only looking at options for a Level 2 equivalent. Still testing and collecting feedback before deciding which to offer. We could offer both USA and European styles in Level 2. In that case, the European would have the leak guards and Level 2 absorbency and the USA would have Level 2 without leak guards and be at lower price point.

I too prefer a diaper with the leak guards.
Especially if I'm going to be away from home.
