Becoming incontinent is already a major inconvenience. Then you get slammed with diaper rash - double whammy! The main cause is because of skin irritation so it's actually best to change diapers as soon as they become soiled or wet.

While no one thing produced miraculous results, a combination of small thanks has been effective in preventing diaper rash.

I found that completely shaving my pubic hair did help. I also changed to using a 40% zinc oxide barrier cream. Although I much prefer to use a plastic-backed diaper, I found that using at least one breathable diaper a day helped.

Where friction appeared to be involved, I found that using compression pants helped significantly in this regard.

In my case, I found that I was washing too often with soap. I now use soap only for my morning shower.

Hi All

I have found the The New Diaper Primer Chapter 6: Hygiene And Diaper Rash (link below) absolutely fantastic. I was lucky enough to come across this chapter at the start of wearing diapers and so far (that has tempted fate) no rash itch etc. Sadly the author is no longer with us however the legacy left behind has helped me no end I hope it will help you as well.

I use an Abena zink cream with 4% zink in it, it works great as a barrier creams as well. I also use powder in the diaper.

I haven't had a rash since I started doing this.
