Hello my longtime friends.. this is a post that anyone who has had incon issues and became dry would NEVER want to make.. the report that somehow their incontinence has resurfaced. Yes, I had leakage tonight..and it wasnt just postivoid dribbling after using hte bathroom...it was full-on spurts!! I don't know why.. i suspect UTI.. im hoping thats all it is because i absolutely do NOT NOT NOT want to deal with incon for are year or more AGAIN..dragging around a backpack like a leg iron... changing in public restrooms..changing at work...i just get mad at the thought of it all..

It goes without saying that im going to see a doctor ASAP.. in the meantime.. ive done the prudent thing and ordered some proteciton... hoepfully wont have to use it for long..

Peace out! hopefully we can get to the bottom of this!

Rob

Rob,

I am sorry to hear that. That is the post that no one wants to make. I wish your welcome back was not for this reason.

Welcome back Rob.
Ma's that does stink and I didn't ever think I would say this but I hope it is a UTI. How long have you been dry? Also do you think you can get by with a pull up? If you need something for just in case, that would be the way to go. At least then supplies would be more manageable. That and the fact it would feel a bit more normal.
Keep us posted and if it clears up, don't be a stranger. I'm sure there are some old friends here the would love to stay in touch.

Rope, thanks for your words of support..as to your question about pullups.. the answer is yes.. IF the pullup could be trusted to have enough padding wherever the male member happens to end up..i tried pullups when in first stated having problems 4 years ago..and quickly leared that they leave gaps...so i stuck with briefs.. even when it was dribbles.. so..im doing the same.. besides, i actually find the pullups less discreet than briefs because in my experience the waistband goes up higher on a pullup than hte brief... I ordered a pack of Attends with waisband off XP Medical..bought Depend at a local rite aid.. and a pack of attends breathable extra absorbent from a local medical supply pharmacy.. yes.. maybe overstocking myself a bit if this is just a UTI..but on the one hand.. i don't know how soon id see a doctor..and on the other hand.. when i had incon problems 4 years ago.. it took on virtually the same pattern as it did last night at work (i work nights at Walmart) and turned out to be much more than just a simple UTI..there were pelvic floor issues involved...

Actually.. if i end up needing them long term (which i hope does NOT happen.. but must be prepared for tha possibility.. I would get Tena Ultra, since they are clothlike, discreet, and the tape tabs make it easy to use the bathroom...

I will definetly keep you posted on what happens... and i do regret the fact that it took a leak to bring be back to this board..ive been busy.. peace out!

Oh, and to answer your question of how long ive been dry in detail... i started having dribbles in ealry 2008, which progressed to floods by the end of the year.. and battled incon for a second year in 2009 before finally becoming dry early 2010. its been 4 years that ive been dry.

Sociologygeek,

I am very sorry to hear that your problem has reoccured. Best of luck getting treatment for a UTI. I hope that's the problem and that your leakage will be temporary.

Thank you for your condolences.. i got really angry at one point and pounded my fist ligthly on the bathroom sink at work (dont worry no harm done) and felt like hitting the mirror...but no, i didnt :).. Worst case scenario, if this doesnt clear up..are cloth diapers cooler in the summer than disposables? or is there no difference since in order cloth to be effective they require plastic pants?

Rob,

I regretted reading that your incontinence is back. Your question about the difference between cloth and disposable diapers deserves at least a response, if not an answer. The upfront costs of cloth diapers are steep; however, if you have no hope of ever regaining control, over time they soon pay for themselves. The issue here is that you were continent at one time, and skilled medical care may give you back your control, in which case, purchasing a supply of cloth diapers, pins and plastic pants would be a waste of money. Good luck.

John.

I thought I was too...until last night..or actually there was a slightly minor spurt last week.. but it was in the neighborhood of "just a small spot on the undies.. no big deal." And then...last night.. you could say the floodgates opened. Everything in my expereience says its just a UTI.. becuase i seem to have transient pain in the region of the kidneys... but on the other hand.. i dont seem to have any burning when i do go.. and i might have a slight fever..or it might just be kinda hot in the store i work at .. i dont know! I'm just really besides myself.. and grateful that I can fall back on prior knowledge of protection and what works and doesnt work to figure this whole mess out. It could also be issues with constipation.. i know that when im constipated.. it does tend to cause urgency frequency with some residual posvoid dribbles..but..then again..its never been spurts and floods like this! at one point.. i would have wet my pants had i not clenched the muscles.. and even..at one point i felt a leak coming on..and i squeezed my pelvic muscles..and it caused the very spurt im trying to avoid!

Patrick thank you for your sentiment..your'e right that it would be a waste of money if i was cured..but what I wanted to know is..are they cooler in the summer time..if i just bought say one diaper and a pair of plastic pants.. if nothing else.. could come in handy to protect when i use enemas and have some occasional leakage or.. which does happen..if not outright feces, then mucus...or i could donate them to a food pantry but you do have a point.. buying cloth would be like admitting defeat...
I am maintaining optimism...but at this point its cautious optimism.. because last time i had issues that started like this.. it took a year to get them resolved.. not to mention that at walmart.. i felt really vulnerable without protection on.. when that started coming and i didnt know how to stop or when it would stop..

Rob,

I'm sure wherever the cause of the problem is going to tune as being something minor w=once you see the doc and do some tests. Don't worry to much about it. I your case, it took a while, but once the previous cause for your incon was properly treated you were "cured" until now. I recall having many, many conversations with you in 2008, and the years that followed. Once you became continent and graduated college your live was then heading in the right direction and from time to time, you would sign in and make a few posts to let those like myself that remembered you for before it was always good to hear from someone that became continent and moved on with life.

I've meet some really good people in this site,...you included. I became cyber friends with some and another person that was very active on this site for a log time "DON", has also moved on to bigger and better things. Don was not only good cyber friends with me, but he was a moderator of this site for a while. Because of job, and family demands Don is not able to stay active on the site any more, but when your as active as you were for the few years making a number of postings that you did you did a lot back then to help this site grow. Yes,....I remember who are, and hope your current visit remains only social and will have whatever your problem maybe is not serious, and short.

Keep us posted.
