so i found out that if i get a pre authorization for better diapers (stating medical need) that medicaid MAY approve them. the medical supply place near where i live has molicare super plus. while i HATE the fact that that they are purple (who thought that was a great idea?!?!?) they are definately way better than attends. and something i can definately work with. if i can get these covered it will be a HUGE weight off my (and my parents) shoulders. being on disability i cant pay for confidrys (my preferred) every month.
so fingers crossed that this works out!

after getting the run around trying to get the medicaid fax number for medical supplies i FINALLY got through to someone. called my doctor back and the patient advocate who ive been working with said shed get it out right away and hopefully the medical supply place can get them out by the weekend if it goes through. (i talked to them too). so the ball is rolling, fingers still crossed.

justej,

Keep up the good work. As for the lavender Molicares, they're underwear. The only people who'll see them are medical professionals. The stigma that so angers and frustrates us does nevertheless have its uses: underwear is not a subject for polite conversation.

HI justeh

Molicare super plus are pretty good diapers. Medicare an Medicaid can be pain to deal with even more so than insurance companies. If you want good pricing for them, I suggest jdcsupplies. Or maybe check Amazon or eBay for competitive pricing. I am not sure the hole process of Medicaid subsidized diapers.

For me I use some flexible spending account money that I set aside.

Hi Justej,
I'm no fan, but Walmart does carry the Molicare if you order from the website for a store pickup. Also, Walmart is starting a more competitive web site system to compete with Amazon apparently. I read it in the Journal, Baron's or somewhere like that this week. We'll see, color me skeptical.

Justej, hospitals have highly researched clothing colors and found that both purple (or lavender), and green (or light green/teal) hide blood stains and are also perceived by patients as being brighter and more colorful in what is otherwise a dull white setting. (Darker shades of blue also work to hide blood stains, but aren't generally though of as being brighter and colorful).

Now green was taken by Depends, so Molicare took on the purple. They purposely did this to hide blood staining, and to show and associate their products with being "medical grade" and "professional".

Too bad for them nobody told them early on that people generally don't like wearing green or purple "underwear". However, you can see both companies have dialed back those colors in their newer diapers. Guess they finally got that message.

holy crap!
ive been on the phone for the last three days, basically all morning and afternoon trying to get this figured out.
of course the patient advocate took today off work so there was really no one to take on my pre auth and get things done today.
they said they would call me on monday and i said "ill be in surgery on monday, you'll have to leave me a message and ill get back to you."
i was hoping to get this done by this weekend, but no luck.
and i STILL dont know if ill get the molicares covered.
so frustrating.
