Sunday I had a major leak while at work. When I analyzed what happened I realized what I did to cause it. Here's what happened. First of all, I put on some lotion on and some got between my groin area and my legs where the leg opening of the diaper goes. This then created an oily area right where I would need a good seal to keep in moisture. Second, since I was heading to my second Part Time job where I tend to not be able to stay hydrated as much, I was trying to hydrate more on my way there. So, combine these two scenarios and you have a great set up for a major leak. And that happened within the first hour of working. Whoops.

This morning as I'm putting on my diaper, I'm wetting. Not a fun way to start my day. I don't like having that happen. It always makes me wonder what kind of day I'm going to have if that happens first thing in the morning. Usually I can get to the bathroom and only have trouble in the evenings and mornings. Some times I have times that I don't make it and have floods that require protection and I can't plan for that. So I wear full protection. Sometimes I feel myself just leaking every now and then. I just never know. Today, who know's what's in store.

Last Saturday I tried a cloth diaper again and it was used. It got washed yesterday by my wife when she did laundry. Today she referred to it. She called it "your cloth thing". I guess we''re not at the stage of calling a diaper a diaper yet with her. Oh well. Maybe some day we will get there. Until then it can be underwear or whatever she wants to call it.

msshendo, it took my wife a while to become comfortable with the terminology. She still calls my daily enemas my "procedure," although as a retired RN I guess that would be professional terminology. At least now a diaper is a "diaper."

Sorry about your "bad hair day." :( It is more likely that your hydration level was the big contributor to your accident. The oils alone should not have made the difference. Due to my bowel incontinence I am covered with barrier cream - right up into my crotch - and have no difficulties from that.

It is possible that some minor alteration in how you adjusted and taped the diaper left just a little looseness at the leg gathers which increased as the diaper sagged. Due to my bowel incontinence I have learned the hard way. For maximum efficiency, both the internal standing leak guards and the leg gathers should be in contact with the skin. I really have to be careful with cloth-backed diapers due to their increased stretching and thus increased sag.

msshendo,

Have you considered wearing nylon pants or plastic pants over the diaper? I think the ones on gary's site are good. I was wearing them over abena, and I apparently flooded and saturated the abena to the point of leaking, but no pee got on the floor until i took off the nylon pants. That pretty much tells me that they are doing their job. Right now I'm wearing a Seni Quatro size large, with a pair of boxer briefs over top and Gary's nylon pants, plus a bodystocking. We shall see if this combo can last 6 hours..

Peace out!

Rob
