I had no idea that a pinched nerve can cause incontinence. How would bladder or sphincter nerves get pinched? Can sitting too long do that?

The nerves rum up the entire length of your spine. In my case, my spine was jarred at my L5 during a bad car wreck. This caused spinal shock and bruising which instantly caused my urge incontinence and set me up for also developing a neurogenic blockage which slowly worsened over the years. Years later I also herniated my disk which exasperated my problems even further.
The nerve ending cluster responsible for normal bladder and sphincter function (sacral nerve) doesn't have to get damaged its self. Many people, like me, can get their nerves crossed or shorted out which lead to the incontinence. It's surprisingly common even when (again like me) there is no other apparent nerve damage.
