I began using Foley catheters for several days at a time when I'm home from work for a few days. Started after weeks of intense urinary frequency and at least a week or two weeks of not fully sleeping through the night and getting up in the 4 to 5 times a night range. My OAB was completely out of control and the meds were not working. The doctors advised me that I should go down to the emergency room and get the Foley catheter inserted as I told them something needed to be done soon because things were not going good at home. Shortly there after I receive the prescription for the catheters and I have been using them for over a year and a half now. I'm in diapers full time whether I'm catheterized or not. I just find that they are the best type of underwear for me to live a "normal" life.

Have you tried a really good sleeping pill? Ambien and the like only work for about 4 hours then you will wake up again, then it's good luck after that. My doctor prescribed me a real tranquilizer for my disrupted sleep. It knocks me out for about 4 hours before I wake up to pee again, but I am almost instantly back to sleep and will get a good 8 hours total quality sleep. A few times I have actually slept through an entire night though! Of course, I wake up with a horribly painful need to go pee right there and then. Either way, I would highly recommend you wear a good premium diaper. Even if for "just in case" and you never use them.

I have those issues too, but I am working with a sleep specialist and hopefully that part of my health issues will resolve itself soon! And yes, it takes awhile for the nighttime part but you'll get there. I would wake up like 5-6 times a night to pee, in addition to my other sleep issues. And since I slept so deeply on the sleep meds I would sleep through those 5-6 wake ups and have accidents as a symptom of the meds. Diapers solved that problem, and now I am sleeping better and trying to transition off the pills.
