mIRC Instructions

Not Experienced at IRC Chat?

No problem. This page will guide you trough. Go to www.mirc.com and on the left side of the page select the DOWNLOAD button. Select a download site close to your location. Go ahead and download the program. Follow installation instructions. Note: instructions are for mIRC version 6.14 or higher.

Note: a new screen will appear asking you to register now and pay a fee. Just hit CONTINUE.

After the installation is complete, close anything that might be open and go to your main screen. An icon for mIRC has been installed. Double Click the mIRC icon.

New Screen: enter information as follows:

Full Name: Do NOT enter your real name. Put in a nickname or other name that is non-descript.

Email Address: Do NOT enter your main email address. You might consider using a public email account like HOTMAIL or YAHOO or you can just make one up.

Nickname: Be original and enter a nick that will not already be registered by someone else. After you get in the room, one of the moderators will be glad to tell you how to register and protect your nickname. If you accidentally pick a "protected" nick, you will simply be renamed to "GUEST" when you go on line.

Alternate: Select an alternate nick. This is generally necessary in case you have any difficulty. When selecting nicks, if you add numbers or put an underscore, you will diminish the chance of a duplicate

Invisible Mode: It is not necessary to check this box. When you come in, feel free to ask one of the moderators what this does.

Select Server: You should now hit the yellow and red asterisk. A new screen appears.

IRC Network: Just leave it on ALL

Select Server: Slide down alphabetically until you see DALnet. (NEWnet as an alternate server is available.) We recommend against using "Any random server". We recommend trying one of three strong servers. Slide down to one of these servers and select it. US,CA,Dragons or US,VA,JADE or AS,MY,Mesra. Then, hit CONNECT TO SERVER.
New Status Screen Appears: Hit the yellow lightning bolt in the upper left hand corner. This will begin the log on process. In the new window, type #inconchat and hit JOIN. Naturally, if you have dial-up, internet service, you must be connected before entering mIRC. If a message says you are unable to connect, just hit OK. It will keep trying. This might take several minutes. If you don't see it try all three of the servers we mentioned, we recommend closing out and starting over selecting one of the remaining two you have not yet tried.

That's all there is to it. It may look complicated, but it really isn't. Give it a try and enjoy your chat. We look forward to meeting new friends and discussing common issues and problems. See you on-line. These instructions provided by BigTom of the Incontinent Support editorial staff. This chat room was created by the founders and supporters of the "IS" web site. We thank the webmaster and creator of the Incontinent Support Homepage for sharing this with you.

Disclaimer: mIRC has been found to be safe to use (it's always a good idea to use the latest version as it fixes some bugs). Proper virus protection and a firewall are recommended.

If you are using a MAC computer you can try using the following programs to get on the chat line. Sorry we don't have directions on how to use them (yet)
