Anyone here, is your incontinence light enough that you can get away with pads(i.e. Poise)? I'm a 45 yr old 115 lb male who still has to wear teen boys underwear. My situation is that a) I fart a lot and these sometimes are moist and b) I have external hemmoroids which makes wiping difficult. Stool breaks off due to the roids, gets caught in the hairs, etc. My underwear is not particularly clean, my rear burns an hour after dumping, you get the picture. Any roid medication makes its own mess and increases the moist farting.

I've not found any pads that are comfortable and that keep their place in my underwear. I've tried Poise and female menstrual pads but they aren't made for the butt and shift all the time in my underwear. I've tried butterfly pads that are supposed to stick to the inside of your cheeks at the anus but they never stay stuck as I move throughout the day. I've tried Tranquility Slimline Briefs which are very comfortable but seem like overkill.

Any suggestions for:
a) a pad that fits in the narrow crotch of a boys size underwear
b) a pad that doesn't move around too much and covers the anus
c) Other

G,

I really don't know of anything like what you are looking for. I understand that a brief or pull on might feel like overkill but it might be the best option besides changing dirty underwear every now and then. I understand your issues (I think) and I have had similar problems too. For me, I have found that some time after I have a BM, I tend to have some leakage. I can't begin to understand it. It's just there. I have gotten down to a fairly routine schedule where I tend to have a BM in the morning before my shower. This allows me to spend some shower time cleaning up before I get dressed for my day. That seems to help me. Of course I can't always control when I have to go but this helps.

Being that I have UI to a degree as well, I wear full tape on diapers 24/7 now. So, a big part of me doesn't care what happens on the other side anymore. For me, proper protection saves laundry. I hope that helps.

For me, cleanliness is not a virtue; it is a necessity. That includes shaving everywhere that leakage could cause trouble, and frequent soap and water washups. I too am a skinny runt, and bowel control is problematic. Although I have no hope that I will ever be able to use normal underwear, soiled diapers are not that much different than soiled briefs. You might try using Nullo, or some other internal deoderant, in addition to the other measures.

Hi all,
Thanks for replying. If 10-12 yr old child had mild/moderate leakage, isn't there any products for such a child other than a pullup or diaper? Maybe a diaper is assumed for a child that young but I wish there was a pad for such a child.
I've tried menstrual and poise pads but they don't stick well, they are meant to be in the crotch area versus backed up towards the rear end, and they tend to itch/scratch. I pinned my hope on Butterfly pads which are for women with bladder leakage but I think my hairs keep the pads from sticking to the inside of the cheeks.

I guess I didn't think of medical care because of the circumstances. Because of a high insurance deductible it will be a year before I save enough to pay cash for roid surgery. I don't know what you can do about gas. Unfortunately I love baked beans as well as cauliflower and associated vegetables.

Went through hemorrhoids twice in five years I hope I never have to do it again.
I know about leakage do to them very hard to deal with.

Both times I had surgery but the last one was externally painful and left me with some problems.

I am urinary incontinent I have Acquit Chronic Urinary Retention do to CIDP and autonomic neuropathy and I use a Foley catheter 24/7.
The first time I had them removed it was easy little pain and no after effects.
The second time the surgeon had to cut into the sphincter which caused some permanent damage and extreme pain.

As for protection we are all different in our needs and shape of our bodies so finding a pad or pullup or diaper can be difficult.
I am lucky even though I have a damage sphincter I seldom leak much just enough to make it embarrassing but there are times.
My first choice would be a full brief reason they are easily taken off and easily to change.

One problem I have to consider is not contaminating the catheter it must be kept clean or I get an infection.
Using a Foley catheter and using briefs things just did not fit correct for me and causes pinching.
After trying just about everything I ended up with a pullon Depends perfect fit. They are comfortable not heavy and I do not sweet in them and the best part I been able to keep things clean I haven’t had an infection if four years knock on wood.

So all I can say keep looking with all that is available to us something should work for you.

I've received the Tranquility® ThinLiner™ Absorbent Sheets samples in the mail last week and I'm trying one today. I'm using the 6'' x 10'', it is extremely thin (like a piece or two of construction paper), has a soft side for the butt, lays in your underwear (no stickiness), and can be folder lengthwise of however else you may want. It is very comfortable but also a little ticklish. I'll let you all know how it works.

Hi all,
I tried the 6x10 inch pad that I mentioned previously. The problem I have is the pad's tendency to move up the back of my underwear as I shift from sitting to standing and back. If I stay with this type pad I will switch to the 6x14 inch pad which I hope would shift less. I still use disposable briefs (abri delta-form) on occasion. Even though they are obviously thicker than the tranquility pads previously mentioned they stay in place whereas the pads shift and defeat the purpose of having one. The briefs are quite comfortable (that's surprising) but the downside to them is being tempted towards laziness and using/wetting one instead of going to the toilet as one should.
No change in the roids or flatulence issue. I farted non-stop last weekend at a square dance convention and the smell was pretty gruesome. Fortunately I was moving all the time so nobody knew who was the guilty party. I have not been to a Dr. in a while. It's a bit embarrassing to talk about and until I can afford surgery to get rid of the roids, there doesn't seem much that can be done. I realize that diet affects flatulence but to clean up all the foods in my diet means getting rid of brocolli, cauliflower, other veggies, bananas and other fruit I love, coffee (I drink 1/2 caf.), and wine. I gourmet cook and I can't imagine being without my favorite foods.

Thanks,
G
