This probably has come up before, but I wanted to mention the best plastic disposal bags I have found for messy diapers. It doesn't take much to bag a wet diaper for disposal and conceal both the bag and odor. However, a messy diaper presents more of a challenge. As I live in a retirement community and garbage goes into a bin in a trash room where it may sit overnight, fecal odor is a problem.

I have used grocery store bags and ordinary plastic trash bags to dispose of messy diapers. Even with multiple layers, fecal odor creeps out.

My solution has been BOS bags. I read about them on an incontinence forum. They were designed for medical disposal of human waste. That is important as these are POOP disposal bags, not trash disposal bags. They do an incredible job at containing fecal odor. You will find BOS bags on Amazon, Walmart, and other sites. I highly recommend them.

Excellent suggestion. I have infrequent fecal accidents. When I do, I put a splash of Chlorox in the bag to manage odor. Again, thank you for your excellent advice.

This is something I need to look into. I have been using kitchen catchers but it's not the best. It can stink up the garbage bin on our first floor.

We don't have them at Walmart in Canada, so I'd have to order them from Amazon. I see they come in different sizes. One thing I'd like to know, is whether there is print on the bag or not (I have to carry my waste down the hall to the garbage chute). I assume the bags are opaque.

There is no print on the BOS bags. They are white but you might be able to see the outline and shape of contents.

I use size XL for adult diapers. In shape they are elongated. There is no drawstring but all you do is twist and tie the upper part of the bag.

For "wet" diapers I still use ordinary grocery store bags unless I think they will sit for a protracted period before the trash is collected. Then I use regular plastic trash bags. I save the BOS bags for messy diapers.

I should add another small tip for reducing fecal odor from a messy diaper - add baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to the disposal bag. When I double bag a particularly odiferous diaper, I sprinkle some baking soda both in the first bag with the diaper and in the second bag. That always has helped.
