Hi all,

I've been scouring the internet looking for the best urine bag holder, so I can hopefully find something better than thigh straps.

I sent an email to Caring Clothing in Australia, and got the response that I'll post below. I'm hoping some users here have a lot of experience with trying to sort this out, and have good recommendations for products. I'm currently using Spirit condom catheters that are directly connected to a Urocare 1000ml disposable leg bag. I hate that the bag can tend to slide down my leg as it fills up. I tried bigger straps, and different sized Urocare thigh holders, but those were even worse. Also, the reusable Urocare bags flop around since they only have 2 strap attachment points in the middle. I guess this particular issue could potentially be mitigated with the right bag holder, if I wanted to use a certain reusable bag.

Let me know what you think, thanks.

I asked: The Night 'N' Day product https://www.caringclothing.com.au/shop- ... leg-holder you sell looks interesting, and potentially better than the other products I've found. Is it superior to these?

Their response: This product secures nicely around the waist and leg so it doesn’t move around and this also allows you to choose whichever underwear you’d prefer to wear. Depending on your size but they come in Small, Medium and large but we can also customise to your sizing. They are $60 for Small, Medium and Large and $70 for customising. It is made from a soft fabric that is washable and reusable. We can post this item to you depending on the weight of the package but up to 500g is approximately $20 but up to 1kg can be approximately $30 but given the item is light I imagine we could keep it under 500g even if we were to deliver a number of them. We would always confirm shipping costs prior to payment once you confirmed location and number of items.

* URO Underwear Strapless Leg Bag Undergarment: https://www.biorelief.com/product/uro-u ... ut-leg-bag

This item is about the underwear and the drainage bag placed within the garment and I am unsure of how secure the drainage bag will be. The video does give you a good overview of the item but it most likely depends on what you like and prefer.

* Netti One Leg Pants Urine Bag Holder: https://www.llmedico.com/product/23/net ... ize-medium

It’s hard to tell but I believe our product is a lot more sturdier around the waist. The elastic may have more chance of stretching over a period of time. I believe our product is superior for this reason.

* Catheze Urinary Leg Bag Holder: http://www.uroanswers.com/catheze-urina ... older.aspx

Again based on the image I believe that this product would endure wear and tear and washing as well as our product. I believe our product is superior for this reason.

* Secure Comfort Catheter Leg Bag Holder: https://www.amazon.com/Secure-Comfort-C ... t+catheter

Again based on the image I believe that this product would endure wear and tear and washing as well as our product. I believe our product is superior for this reason. I also feel that ours would be easier to put on.

* Catheter Caddy Thigh Bag Holder: http://www.cathetercaddy.com/

This is a little more difficult to see how exactly this works but I am unsure of how secure this is to your body. It does give you the option of having this around your waist or lower leg. I believe our product is more superior based on the images and that our product will secure well to your waist and leg.

A few years ago I complained of the urine bag staps to my urologist. He gave me what is basically just a long mesh sticking. You pull it on first, then the bag goes aganst that instead of your skin. Now fold up and pull the stocking up over the bag to secure it in place. There is also a hole mid way down the stocking for the catheters drain tube.

It feels way more comfortable, and keeps the bag securely in place even when full. I'll never go back to something that is even remotely loose like straps or belts again.

Are you talking about something like this? https://www.urocare.com/EN/Products/FrbcLgBgHldrsEN.php

I've tried the Urocare bag holders and one of the problems I have is that they slide down my leg even more than the straps do.

Can you post a link, or a photo, to the product you use?

Not quite. I found this google image below. It is an eslastic like mesh, so the entire thing is holding itself snug to your leg. Get just the right size and it isn't too tight but will stay in place really good.

Thanks, the reviews are mostly good, but someone said this, "It holds the bag firmly, except so firmly, the bag can barely fill, and it doesn't take much for your condom catheter to back up with urine. Wear it all day, and when you remove it, you itch like crazy from the material on your skin. Make your own barrier between your skin and rubber straps and stay away from this..."

Any thoughts on that?

My best guess, that person didn't get the right size & was using one that's too tight. The fit should not be firm, but snug- and lightly snug at that- if that makes any sense. It should also not be so tight that the material will impact your skin enough to make it itch either.

I had a urologist's appointment today. The nurse who knows about urology products said this mesh holder would just slide down my leg. It does look like the Urocare holder I tried, so I guess I'm back to the original ideas.
