Except for bowel incontinence, any one who just dribbles urine should not need internal standing leak guards, They serve to contain fecal matter and to keep a flood of urine in the main portion of the diaper until it is absorbed.
Re the 95 oz of maximum useable capacity in the XP Medical tests, none of us will come near that.

It is an artificial test, but more accurate than the ISO "dip and weigh" test. I would expect to get no more than 50% of the so-called "maximum useable capacity. However, it is good to compare different diapers. Anyway, for practicality who walks around with two quarts of pee in their diaper?

Agree. My urge incon is gushes. One accident I could lose 3oz or urine. Next accident I could lose 13oz at once. I'm very reluctant to even try a diaper without leak guards.
I definitely agree with your capacity comments too. I think the only way to get closer to that max usable capacity is if you sleep on your back and actually urinate that much at night. Maybe bedridden people? When I sleep on my back I'm much less likely to leak and much more of that back padding gets used. Standing/stitting, much of the urine is concentrated in the front and down into the crotch area which is the area most vulnerable to a leak if there aren't leak guards and/or you don't get a really good seal with the leg gathers.
