Hey all,

As you know, ive had to look into upping my diaper size. The problem is, most diapers out there start larges at 44 inches.. but im a 42 inch waist. Only a few, ConfiDry, A+, and Abena and Northshore Care have their Larges starting at 40 inches. This presents a problem, as my medicaid-covered diapers are getting tight.. but im too small for their large according to the measurments. Looks like I'll be paying out of pocket for ALL my disposibles I use until my waist goes down. It makes sense then to go for the case with the most quantity for the lowest price.. which happens to be ConfiDry, with 72 diapers for 113 dollars. Does anyone know of any brands that have their larges starting at size 40 or 42 inch waists that im not aware of?
Peace out!

Rob

I recently reordered some Foresite AM / PM diapers in a large even though I am only a 38" and normaly wear the confidry in a medium.

i decided to retry them as the last few batch's of the confidry have been a bit thinner then the past and the quality control has gone down hill a bit as well. (a lot of the diapers have solid flattened areas)

The Foresite diapers have a softer feel and are more comfortable to wear and are absorbent, not sure if I will switch from the confidrys as they still fit better size wise.

I don't understand this. Are you saying your insurance won't cover the cost of larger diapers because you're too small, or because you feel you're too small for the diapers. Diaper sizing is just a generally recommended range, which varies from person and from manufacturer. If you're a 42 and the size on one brand starts at 40 (and goes higher), then you should be just fine. Likewise, if another brand starts at 44, you're probably just fine for them as well.

Brian,

I'm afraid id be too small for the size large. Medicaid would certianly cover the size large. I'm just not sure id fit into a size large since they start at 44. But, you think 44 would work for me? I guess i can give it a try. Tomorrow ill call J and B medical and ask for all their medicaid covered diapers in size large. Thankfully, my diapers ive been getting from MonkaDunk/Missing Kinks fit up to a size 48 waist. However, I wont always be able to use cloth..Gotta go, company's coming.

Peace out!

Rob,

I understand your frustration, but perhaps you are interpreting the manufacturer's diaper sizes too literally. when in between sizes, the general rule is to move up to the larger size. I have a 42 inch waist and always have had to wear size Large in diapers. Yes, the label says something like 44 to XX, but the important thing is that they fit! With taping, it is easy to adjust for that small difference in the waist size. More importantly, once you have taped the diaper snugly, do the leg gathers fit well (taped snug but not tight)? If so, you have the correct size. :D

My waist (48") and hips (50") overlaps sizes L and XL for most brands. I have tried both, and I have found that the larger size always works better. The wings are longer, making it easier to snugly fasten the tapes. Plus, I'm a very heavy wetter, so the larger size gives the benefit of slightly wider and longer padding, plus a wider crotch, reducing the chance of leaks while sitting.

I think you guys are right about the size large working just fine even if it is 45 waist. I bought some briefs at walgreens, just to test the fit of a size large diaper, and im ablee to get in on snug enough to get a good seal at the legs. So, i just might be able to get a diaper that fits covered by medicaid after all. :)

Peace out!

Always remember, when trying out a new manufacturer, or size of the same kind, to never buy more than just one bag!

If you blindly set up automatic ordering, or even just get a case of them, it is very possible they will not fit or work quite right for your body. This goes for even one manufacturer that works good but fits too tight and you're looking to go up, in a size. It also goes double for trying out a different manufacturer too.

If the one bag doesn't work right you're out only a little. But get too many at first and you could seriously be out of a lot of money- and needing to buy more of a different kind immediately too.
