Well the catheter/apparatus arrived today. First thing i noticed was the bag was rather small.. I doubt it could contain my morning deluges, so if i do decide to use this, i will have to invest in leg bags.

Ok, i have the device on. Application went relatively smoothly. The petals are a bit wrinkled, but my urethra is lined up with the opening in the device so its ok. Its not too uncofortable, but it will take some getting used to having something hanging off the end of my penis. When the bag gets full i imagine that the bag will pull on my penis.. so i may have to look into getting straps. Under boxer breifs it is a bit akward having the bag.. comfortable postioning might take some negotiating. Maybe i should wear boxers...

So far, I don't have any experience pointing me one way or another. I got the thing on.. so the first hurdle is past. Next thing i need to test is capacity and comfort when the bag is filling.

Three years ago my then urologist ordered ostomy nurses to instruct me on how to apply the Men's Liberty external catheter. Less than two hours after they had put it on me, it came unglued and I had one memorable accident. If you can make these work for you, wonderful, and go with my blessing. My GI issues make an external catheter a moot point, but I'll not forget that pants-soaking event.

Well, Men's Liberty is a no-go.. because Tricare and Medicaid won't cover it, despite it saying RIGHT ON THE FREAKING WEBSITE that it accepts Tricare and Medicaid..so.. now im looking into AlphaDry External catheter, The McGuire urinal, and the afex system. I wouldnt exclusively use them, just as a break from diapers when i needed to air out. I am not sure about whether the 20 oz capacity of the alpha dry would be enough.. today i flooded 3 Abri-Forms, 2 to saturation and slight leaking.. so.. when i flood i FLOOD...
