mvincent137,
I many here, I too have had a few cystoscopy procedures. No worries,......its NOT as bad as some have made it out to be. I would compare it to being cathed. I think that Pockchop's urologist probably used a super large size insert with him and didn't use a numbing gel. Maybe Pockchop had an Intern with no supervision. That would explain things,...LOL It goes without saying, the larger the insert the more discomfort you are likely to feel.
Like I said,....no worries, I'm sure your doc (urologist) will use a gel that will numb the insertion of the cystoscopy so it will feel much the same as being cathed. Once the cystoscopy reaches the bladder the discomfort is really over,.....just like the insertion of a cath. Once the doc reaches your bladder with scope, all you will feel will be the up, and down movement as the doc moves the scope around inside your bladder. There is NO discomfort to this,...not at all. The ONLY time you will feel ANY more discomfort will be when the doc removes scope from your urethra on the way out. There is ONLY one way into your bladder with a scope, so there is ONLY one way out. If you recall what it felt like when you were cathed for the first time that is what a cystoscopy procedure is going to feel like UNLESS your doc uses a larger gage insert.
The good news is once this procedure is completed you will be finished with one of the most invasive exams unless doc wants to do a urodynamics test. This is the test where they measure pressure, volume, and sensory bladder release of fluid. If you never had this test preformed they have to put a tube into you bladder so it too feels like your being cathed with a tube going into the bladder. Same as above, once the tube reaches the bladder there in no discomfort. My urologist preforms this test on me annually. I can't tell you how much I look forward to this test every year,....NOT. I call this test "hot dog on a tube" for all the obvious reasons. LOL This test, (urodynamics test), and the test your about to have done (cystoscopy) are the two most invasive male urology tests preformed. I'm double incon, so they check bowel pressure I guess by putting a tube in place where the sun don't shine every time I have the uorodynamics tests done. I have some nerve damage in certain areas of my butt(saddle area as it is called) so I don't feel much discomfort when they put that tube in me. I often wonder what would happen if I passed gas with that tube stuck up my you know what? LOL LOL I'll have to ask the urologist the nest time I have this test preformed.
In sum, DON'T worry about your upcoming procedure. It will feel like your being cathed and NOTHING more!
Maybe Porkchop had his procedure preformed at the Phoenix, VA, or had the same urology Intern that worked at the Phoenix, VA. If not,...maybe the doc knew Porkchop and used a larger gage insert just because he knew him. mmmmmmmmm That could be strong possibility.
Hope my explanation helped.
