DANG DOOR!!!! Accident..

Sun Feb 14, 2016 9:52 pm

Well like always I just had to suddenly have to pee really bad while trying to open my front door..The electric door lock failed and I had to hold the reset button to fix it and managed to wet my pants in the process.. First time in three years that i have had an issue during the day and now my bladder hurts which is weird because I did not have to go at all before getting to the door.

I'm so sorry that happened. It's somewhat common, though - an urge/accident that sometimes happens when a person approaches his/her front door. It's happened to me a few times as well, but I wear daytime protection as well as overnight protection, so my clothing hasn't gotten wet.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again in the next few days/weeks. In that case, you know the drill. My guess is that it was an isolated occurrence and that you don't need to start wearing protection during the day.

I still think that I have stress/anxiety issues because I was fine until the door did not unlock...Like did not have to go at all. And it was not much as it mostly stayed in my underwear. I was just annoying because it has almost happened quite a few times. I get frustrated when the door doesn't unlock and it is like, Yea now I have to pee, like right now...

It looks like you have identified the door as a hot button. Since you recognize it as a stress trigger, that may be enough to cancel out an emotional/physical reaction of urge/accident.

I think the front door is the place I have the most incidents... just knowing the bathroom is on the other side... just another minute, you can make....... DAMMIT! lol Key-in-the-door syndrome strikes again, don't ya just hate that! Puffy

Know the feeling all to well. Front door/bathroom door it doesn't matter. Just when I think I am gonna make it, the gates open.

Unlocking or even opening a door is a well-recognized "trigger" for OAB accidents. You have lots of company in this.

Often for me, I've been out and about, arriving home almost totally dry, I pull in the garage, get out of my truck, and the floodgates open. I wonder why that is?

Guys (and gals),

Knowing that you are vulnerable to this "trigger," the recommended practice is to initiate "quick flicks" of brief Kegel contractions to stop the urge. Some begin the contraction before the "trigger" starts.

My alarm goes off when I'm almost home. I'm fortunate to live in the country. I throw open the door once I'm stopped, run into the yard and practice burning out the grass. Keeps the accidents WAY down. Seems the grass doesn't like it though.
