Well, I jumped another hurdle today. Ended up in the emergency room after a skiing accident. I've dreaded This scenario. They required me to don the gown. Unfortunately I couldn't do it because of the pain so the RN helped. I was wearing cloth at the time as when you're skiing the bulk is hidden completely, and cloth keeps the costs down. She got the whole free show of my plastic pants and diapers. EEK! I notified them of OAB at admission so I think it didn't surprise her. My wife told me later the RN winked and smiled at her after seeing my protection. The RN treated me with absolute respect and friendliness. She made me feel really at ease. So, a sudden unexpected fall put me in the ER.
The end result, fractured humerus at the shoulder blade.....Ouch Ted

Sorry to hear about your fall, hope you get well soon. Glad the RN made you feel comfortable about being seen wearing a diaper for your OAB.

I hope your injuries will not seriously impede your incontinence management. Please, heal quickly. Generally, the RNs have been more understanding than my doctors have been in such circumstances as this.

Ted, I'm sorry about your accident. I wish you a speedy recovery. Last but not least, I'm happy to know that you are managing your incon well, and that you haven't let the need to wear hold you back!

Get well soon. I'm curious though, did they end up cutting your diaper off you and tossing it? Or did they carefully unpin and save/bag it for you? I'm guessing it was wet though.

I had a similar situation (left leg with er then inpatient admitting), and they just cut my disposable diaper off me before going the catheter route.

You sound like you have my luck. I pray for a speedy recovery. I'm glad the R.N. treated you with the respect you deserved, good luck on your healing. I'm also glad you have your wife there to help you stay dry.

Hi All, I'm feeling like I got dropped out of an airplane. I wouldn't think you could hurt this bad by falling in the snow. Doc has me on the oxycodone Wheeee!!!  I'm doing the stupid health insurance thing jumping thru their hoops. I broke my arm at the top of the bone and it would be nice to get it taken care of. Thanks health insurance,a glad you care so much..... Hopefully I can see a specialist tomorrow.

Ted,
Be careful on the oxy, getting constipated will not help your bladder issues. Hope you get through the insurance mess.
