Hi all,
Just venting this morning. Had my 5th accident (plus a few near misses) this year last night, so the incidents of bedwetting are on the rise. Sometimes I can pinpoint the issue like sound sleeping after a few nights of insomnia, drinking alcohol or coffee (June's accident) or having a large late meal combined with existing constipation (July's accident). Last night though, I have no apparent reason.
- I went to the bathroom at 10:15.
- I had 1 glass wine around 8 and 1/3 glass more at 10
- Lay in bed talking to my wife until 11:30
- Made love
- Asleep by midnight
- Wet by 2:00
- Was dreaming of singing publicly the Psalm from Mass last night (sometimes I dream of using a toilet and I wake up holding myself)

I didn't think the little wine I had should create a problem. Yes, I could have gone to bathroom once more before or after lovemaking but I had no urge whatsoever to go. I had intentionally chosen not to wear a diaper last night as it seemed unnecessary and sleeping bare feels so good sometimes. Looks like I'm just not getting the signal to use the bathroom or I'm not waking to it if I get it. I'll have to wear a diaper every night I guess.

As a side note, I have no had any daytime issues whatsoever in several months. The Pygeum I take really has resolved the daytime wetting.

Obviously it's up to you, but if I were wetting less than once a month, I wouldn't bother with diapers.

I'm want to agree with you but I don't know. I often sleep on the couch because my wife snores and/or our 2nd floor bedroom is too hot. Last night I was sleeping on top of the bed covers because of the heat so I got the quilt a little wet. I know my wife will push me to wear a diaper at night, at least until I've gone a few weeks without an issue. She would be willing to just let me use a flat bedpad but since I move around a lot when I sleep I don't know if the pad would be of much good unless we kept it under the bottom sheet. The mattress would be protected I guess.

Some of us would consider bedwetting only once a month to be "dry." :D

I agree with MSUSpartan that diapers at this stage seems like overkill. However, wet quilts are a no-no. :(

Try putting disposable absorbent pads under the sheets, protecting a wider area than the immediate area in which you usually sleep. Then put a reusable cloth bed pad on top of the sheets where you actually will sleep. That should give you adequate protection and reassure your wife as well.

Let us know what you do and how it works for you.

My wife says she still has a cloth pad from when our daughter was young so I will try your suggestions when sleeping on the bed.

Hi All

I always wear a diaper in bed as having had a wet bed it scared me so for me I have naturally gone a bit over the top with diapers and bed pad as it so much eraser to clean up.

I'm with those who say to wear way more protection than is absolutely necessary. My incontinence is leaks or drips after Ive already held it to make the toilet. I use the toilet 99% of the time. I prefer regular tape on diapers, I think they're far more secure. I do still wear pullups and pads at work. As they're easier to manage there. Just my .02

G, as you probably know by now, I'm a huge fan of surface bedpads. Goodnites disposable bedpads adhere to the bottom sheet, so moving around while you sleep wouldn't be a problem. The downside is that they're a little pricey, and I've heard that they leave adhesive residue on polyester sheets. I know that you like to sleep in the nude and I think a surface bedpad is the ideal solution for you (I would also consider a waterproof mattress cover). Goodnites hold a fair amount, but it likely wouldn't hurt to void just before you get into bed for the night. I would wear a diaper on the nights when you sleep on the couch.

I keep a waterproof full mattress cover on the bed. It's under the sheets, so when it gets wet, the sheets needs to be laundered as well, but once a month (or so) isn't bad. When I sleep uncovered, I doubt sleep on top of the blanket and top sheet, I pull them back.

Obviously, sleeping on the couch is a different matter.

Thanks everyone. It looks to be a hot and steamy night tonight and our central air really doesn't work that great on the 2nd floor. That means I'm sleeping downstairs on the couch and wearing a diaper. When my wife gets back from out of town on Tuesday I'll either try sleeping on the cloth pad with a disposable pad underneath or but the Goodnite pads. i have no idea where the cloth pad is in the house.
