Hi
Yes Tammy and I met years ago at a medical supply place we both were buying diapers there. Some how it seemed that we would end up going there at the same time. Not every time but often enough. Both of us telling each other that we are buying for someone else. Till one day I walked past her and she said the diapers are for you I 1/2 heartily said yes She said she could here the plastic in my pants as I walked by her. Then she fessed up and told me she was buying for herself as well. We both had a good laugh and have been friends ever since. Both Tammy and my young friend do not have computers at home. So for that reason I buy stuff for them from time to time when I can find a deal for them. I don't know if my new friend has one or not either. I'm guessing not for the fact she only wears Walgreen's and diapers found at Walmart? ...Sandy

Sandy,
I've had a computer in my home for well over 10 years. It never occured to me that a lot of people still don't have a computer. That really handicaps an incontinent person trying to find the right protection.
You are a valuable sourse to your friends. I wonder how many people are out there who are incontinent and don't have the availabillity of the internet. It's a lot more than I ever thought! Keep in touch! .............Paul

Well you have been on line longer then me then. I think it was around 99 or 2000 when we bought our first one. It's surprising how many don't have one. Or even the ones that do and hardly ever use them.
.............. :) Sandy :)

Sandy,
I think you said something to the effect that your friend,Tammy, was quite surprised to hear you were wearing cloth diapers some of the time now. I guess if you don't have access to the internet and see how others deal with their incontinence, you would be surprised to hear cloth diapers are an alternative to disposables.
I read these introductions of new menbers on the Yahoo board that Joe K promotes, and many of them use cloth diapers at night. I guess Tammy never even realized that there were cloth diapers and plastic pants made for adults(maybe). If she could just see what's all out there, she may change her mind. Keep us up to date how you friends are doing. .............Paul(Martin)

You know it's funny how a person here's one bad example of a poorly made product and thinks that's the way they all are.

Case in point Tammy and I both have a mutual friend that works as a CNA at a large nursing home. Shes worked there about 15 years or so. Well up until a few years ago they used cloth diapers. But she said they switched to Attends with the wast band yet? She use to tell of the horror stores of those cloth diapers. it appears they were the snap on type and had no elastic around the legs and were rather thin to start with. they had the supposed water proof outside cover that often leaked. so they would often be changing cloths and bedding rather then just a diaper. So when they changed to the attends it was like a night and day difference. Our friend went from cursing cloth to praising disposables. She knew both Tammy and I had to wear protection. She told us you don't know how good you got it with those disposables.

Some how I think that maybe in the back of Tammy's mind. I guess to be honest it was in the back of my mind to some degree. But you fellows changed that for me. Tammy is a rather stubborn one always has been

Sandy,
You're right on how someone's past experience with something will keep their mind set that way until they see or hear something else. It seems like hospitals and nursing holes have budget constraints and are forced to use the "budget" brands. If you don't know what is out there , you assume that what you're using is the best available.
I've heard some nursing holmes still use cloth diapers and plastic pants for their residents. One I read of, though, used the higher quality and had no complaints. I guess Tammy won't be willing to consider a change to cloth diapers until she reads comments from other users and see all the different types and styles that are available. There's a cloth diaper for just about any degree of incontinence. I think if Tammy would just take her time to review cloth diapers, she may consider them in the future.
I know I'm sold on cloth diapers and will never be out of them. Good remarks, Sandy! .......................Paul(Martin)

Yes it's funny how Stupid these outfits are! They think they are saving money when all they are doing is costing themselves money. I mean look For one you have to launder the diapers but not only that the clothes sheets as well plus they had to change the cloth more often then the Attends. So then add the extra labor involved in changing the EXTRA DIAPERS PLUS THE SHEETS AND CLOTHES AND THE OCCASSONAL MESS ON THE FLOOR IN THE HALL OR FURNITURE OR WHEREVER BECAUSE THEY LEAKED WHEN THEY WERE UP AND ABOUT. Anyway you get the idea. Sure now they have to buy diapers rather then reuse them. But I'll bet you get a pretty good price when your buying a truck load at a time. Your labor is probably cut by 2/3 or more looks like a no brain er for them. Funny part is how dumb many of these institutions are. Getting back to the cloth diaper if they would have just had plastic pants over the diaper might have helped as well.

These outfits can be so dumb another case in point. They treat all the same not as an individual. I was reading on another board a few months ago about a younger gal who was put into a Wacky Ward. Now granted from the sounds of this person she wasn't all there to begin with. She had been in diapers all her life. been in special ed classes in the schools. then it was when she was in her teen years they started schooling her at home. Well it sounds like they made good progress with her. They even taught her to control her BM. but then she got raped and molested by her step father (I think it was?) ended up in the wacky ward and they had a policy there that anyone that wore a diaper was expected to do both in it and has no choice! to top it off they put plastic locking pants over the patients diaper so they can't get it off. The reason being it would appear that some of the patients were removing there protection and peeing and pooping on the furniture. So one rule fits all???? Now the woman that wrote this appears to have legal custody of this person I think she was like an ant? Now she was looking for help in retraining this person to not poop her pants and so on...................Sandy

Sandy,
WOW! You sure got that out of your system! We shoud start another thread in a different catagory if you have more to say. My step father was in a nursing home for 2 and a half years before he passed away this spring. His home was nice and it was under control in his place.

Have a nice weekend and keep us up to date on those cloth diapers. .................................Paul
